SOURCE: CRATE PA-B6350 no output

The 2 speaker jacks are wired in parallel. If your subs are 4 ohm rated the amp is seeing a 2 ohm load and may be trying to protect itself - hence the red light. I would suggest you unplug 1 of the subs and see if the problem goes away. You may have a problem with one of your subs. This amp is probably not the best choice for such demanding work as it is not fan cooled. Good luck.

I have an old late 70s Peavey PA-400 powered mixer. It's a workhorse that suddenly started doing the following: As soon as you turn it on - both speakers hum pretty loudly, and the back of the PA...

As these units get old, the solder joints can start to fail. Also, come of the components are getting tired. If you have no electronics experience, bring this to a servicer. I typically overhaul these units for about $100 plus parts. In most cases, the parts costis less than $20. These are solid units and you can probably get another 30 years out of it.

Part of the overhaul should be reseating all of the output transistors and replacing all of the heatsink compound as well as cleaning out all of the pots and switches.

Keep us posted.

Crate gtx212 mute circuit (Q24 across IC4A pins 1 and 2) should go positive on the gate when a plug is inserted.

Looks like Q24 changes the gain at IC4-A from low with no input jack to normal gain with a jack inserted. Since this appears to be a guitar amp that expects a floating input plug any connection at the input to say, a mixer etc may cause a re-grounding via that equipment's circuits, thus negating the auto mute...... eggs & suck :-) If using a moving coil meter it could upset things.... an interesting fault! Sorry I can't be more help - Good luck!

Lost manual. I need to know how to hook a TDK-3826 dual recorder to a PA System at church to record the services and what CDs to use.

Hi wpless43!
The TDK-3826 supports analog input/output, digital coaxail input/output, and digital optical input/output. To connect a PA system, you'll have to determine what type of connection it uses. If your PA system uses an analog connection, it will have two audio cables, one for the left sound channel and one for the right channel. These are color coded and can be connected to analog connections on the back of recorder. Coaxail and optical connections are both single cable connections, and can be connected to their respective locations on the back of the recorder.

Regardless of the connection used, you'll want to connect one of the outputs of the PA system to the recorder if you want record. If you want to use the recorder to play back audio over the PA, you'll want to connect the output of the recorder to the input of your PA. Most PAs support multiple outputs and inputs, so you should be able to connect the recorder input and output at the same time.

You'll want to use CD-R/RW discs to record, but make sure they are audio discs (See image). joehaydu.jpg
You can find a copy of the manual for the TDK-3826 at http://audio.manualsonline.com/mdownloads/bd4c0d62-6f82-4bfb-bf83-8d832f3fe222.pdf. Hope that helps!

I have a crate cpb150 amp i want to connect it to my digitech gsp2101 via livewire stp-202 cable what is the correct way?

I can understand your confusion... and a lot depends how you are going to use this. There are some caveats regarding the connections,
If you use the 1/4 outputs on the GSP, there is a speaker modeling like function that is NOT available, that IS available IF you use the XLR outputs.
The STP is an "Insert Snake" which is not really what you want as it is intended to send and receive (audio going both directions in the cable.
If you want that speaker function, then you should get two XLR to 1/4 TRS cables and go from the XLR's on the GSP to the Left and Right inputs on the back of the Crate. Your audio or guitar then is connected to the GSP guitar input.
If you connect the guitar to the crate and then use the STP, Plug the TRS single connector into the Left/Mono/send/rtn on the Crate. The Send cable of the Y should go to the Send jack on the back of the GSP and the return should go to the left return jack of the GSP. This connection I would NOT recommend as it will be noisier and you will lose the stereo effect capabiltiy since the effect is inserted as a mono.

I believe you would be happier with using the XLR's to carry left and right to the Crate and run your inout to the GSP. In short, you have the wrong cable to do the best job.

Hi

The problem is with the amplifier itself. Crackling is usually capacitor related and you will need to have the amp checked over to properly identify the cause.

Some amps are also prone to pick up static from other electrical items which can also cause these problems. I had a crackling issue with an old Crate amp of mine which turned out it was due to being too near a computer/monitor so it is worth eliminating these things as a possible cause before having the amp checked.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.
