You can enter equations of any type. Read the rest of the post. Keep in mind that if you are using the Solve( function X must be the unknown. If you are using the Table computational mode, X is the independent variable and Y the dependent one.

The variables you have at your disposal in this calculator are
A, B,C,D,X,Y,M. All of them are accessed by pressing the [ALPHA] key before the key near which is written the name of the variable. You will notice that the markings of the symbols accessed with the [ALPHA] key are of the same color as that of the [ALPHA] key.

You will notice also that there are two = signs.
The one at the bottom right executes the command line. By pressing it you find the result of the expression just entered.

The other = sign is marked on the body of the calculator with the same color as the [ALPHA] key. It is located at the top left of the keyboard (excluding the row with SHIFT, MODE, the navigation buttons)

Example to enter X^2-2X-35=0 you proceed as follows.
Direct access physical keys are in [ ],
[ALPHA] (X) [X to power 2] [ - ] [2] [ * ][ALPHA][(X) [ - ] [3][5] [ALPHA] (=) [0]

Usually when you enter such an expression it is with the intention of solving it for X. By default X is taken to be the UNKNOWN. You will be prompted to enter the value assigned to any other letter symbol (Y, A,B,C,D).

So, if you want to use the Solve function, you enter the equation you are dealing with, and before pressing anything else, press [SHIFT] [CALC] and the calculator will ask you a question: "Solve for X?" , and you press the = sign at the bottom right.
Then you will be prompted for any other non-X letter. Once all non-X variables (if any) are given values, the calculator will return with the solution. You will see on the screen L-R= (should be zero if you are lucky).

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs \$6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
Goodluck!

### How do I solve for y, 2y + (y-3)=18 - 2 (y+3). with the casio fx-300es? and if I cant whats the calculator that will. thanx

Do you really need a calculator to solve a linear equation?
Let us see how to solve it without a calculator.
Remove the parentheses fronm the second term on the left : y-3
Use the distributive property on the last term on the right side -2y-6
Take the term -3 to the right side, changing its sign in the process (becomes +3)
Take the -2y term to the left making it +2y.
3y +2y=18+3-6 or 5y=15 and the answer is straightforward .

As to your Casio FX300ES, it cannot solve equations because it does not have an EQUATION calculation mode. The Casios FX-115ES and FX-991ES have an Equation Mode. If you use any of the two to solve an equation in one variable (linear, quadratic or other) the unknown is taken to be x by default. You would have to change the name of the variable from y to x.

### Solving linear equations in 3 variables by matrix method in casio fx-115ES

Press key Mode, first select option 5:EQN (by pressing key 5), then option 2: a_nX+b_nY+c_nZ=d_n (by pressin 2).
Now input coefficients from equations in table (each column is for one variable), just type in number and press =, then use arrows to move to another cell.

### I knowi can find a linear equation if i have: two points {for example A(0,0) and B(1,1) the equation is y=x} or one point {for example C(0,2)} and a slope {for example m=2) the equaton is y=2x+2 can my...

The general answer is no. However the calculator can be used to find the slope and the y-intercept. You write the formula for the rate of change (a) and use the calculator to calculate it. Then you use the formula to find the y-intercept.
If you have 2 points, you can use the 2 -var statistics program to find a linear regression.

### How do i solve for the solutions to the simultaneous linear equations on the fx-115es? I don't know how to set up the calculator to do it. 10x-3y+10z=5 8x-2y+9z=3 8x+y-10z=7

Select the EQN computational mode 5:EQN

For system of linear equations in 3 unknowns select 2: in the screen below.

Arrange the variables in your equations in the same order (x first, y second, and z third).
The coefficients to enter in the editor are the factors of the variables: In your case a_1=10, b_1=-3, c_1=10, d_1=5, a_2=8, b_2=-2, c_2=9, d_2=3; a_3=8, b_3=1, c_3=-10, d_3=7.
To enter d_1, d_2, and d_3 you will have to scroll to the right to reach the cells where they should go.

Once finished entering the coefficients, press EXE to get the solutions. You may have to use the arrow Down to display the y- and z-solutions.
I verified that the matrix is non-singular and the system has a solution. In fraction form
x=27/53, y=-1 and 22/53; finally z=-23/53

### How to do equations the papers that come with it doesn't explain it very well. Is there someplace where I can get a better explaination?

You can solve equations two ways: The EQN computational mode or the SOLVE application.
IN the EQN mode you can solve linear equations in one, two and three unknowns; the quadratic equation; and the cubic equation.
Enter the EQN mode by following the instructions on the following screen capture. Press 5:EQN

You have three types of equations.

Once you select the type of equations, a template is displayed where you enter the relevant coefficients.

Under each label (a, b, etc. ) enter a coefficient and press ENTER to move to the next. With a cubic equation, or a linear equation in 3 unknowns, you have to use the Right arrow to display the cells where you enter the value of d.
After you input all necessary coefficients press the = sign to get the solution.

To use the SOLVE feature, see the screen capture that follows. It comes from the Casio manual.

Good luck

### How do i solve a matrix?

What do you mean by "solve a matrix"? Find the inverse? Find the determinant? Find the solution to a system of linear equations? Within limits the fx-115ES can do any of these and more.

The procedures are described in the "Matrix Calculations" section of the manual. If you still have problems, please reply to this post specifying what you want to do.

### How do i calculate limits on my Casio fx-115es? Ex. lim x->3 for (x2'-0)/x-3

Sorry, but you cannot calculate limits of functions with this calculator. It does not have a Computer `Algebra System (CAS). For that you need a graphing calculator with CAS: Casio ClassPad 300, 300PLUS, 330, HP 48 GII, HP49 G/ G+, HP 50G, TI-NSPIRE CAS, TI89 Titanium, TI 92/92PLUS, TI Voyage 200 PLT. It is still a very good scientific (non graphing) calculator
However, you can calculate numerical derivatives, and numerical integrals, solve linear and non-linear equations.

Even though this post does meet your expectations, do not let that prevent you from rating it.
