Did you try going thru the setup portion of the owners manual? IF you need the manual you can get it online free. I realize sometimes people read the manuals and don't understand the technical jargon. If you just using them for stereo, use the "main pre-out" on the receiver. if your using them for surround, they need to go the 5.1 pre-out rear. Hope this helps.

With the power off, try to disconnect every component and then power on the receiver. If it still shuts down, then it is an indication of an internal error and the unit needs to be serviced.
