Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Dvr writing

Did it work in the past? Are you sure your system can write DvD's? Click Start/My Computer and look at the description of the DvD Drive. Does it say DvD-RW or DvDrw which means it can write a DvD? Look on the side of the laptop at the dvd drive, does it say DvDrw or DvD-RW or DvD Rewritable? If so that means it is capable of writing Dvd's.

If it says just DvD or DvD Rom that means it can only read dvd's.

Make sure the dvd you put in the drive is blank. I've been on many service calls where they said the dvd was not writing and found out that the media was not blank.

What reason:- do not read written cd/dvd bt original cd/dvd can be read Model:- HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4241N Driver of Lenivo Laptop

- first try to clean the lens (use only a cleaner disk, no other stuff)
- second try to read a cd or dvd written by this unit on LOWEST speed alowed, let's say 24x for cd and no more than 8x for dvd
- if that does not solve the problem, a firmaware update for your drive will fix that

Hi!
You have 2 options:
1. Place a (single) page on the scanner glass - Written side facing DOWN.

WHAT SIDE OF DVD DISC DO I PRINT ON. HAVE PRINTED ON YELLOW SIDE BUT EVEN AFTER 12 HRS IT SMUDGES.

You need DVD's that are labeled Ink jet printable. The printable side is most likely a plain white surface. On DVD-RW's you will probably need a Sharpie Pen.

I would like to try for the first time to record a DVD on my HP nx5000 Notebook. On a label enclosed with the blanks I have purchased I read: ?Use of this disc in incompatible recorders may lead to...

Hi there.
Yes of course you can use that disk to burn to, most recorders these days don't get damaged and can write to just about any disk which is on the market.
The message that comes with the blank disks is just a generic message which covers the disk manufacturer from liability, if the disk is incompatible then the recorder will not write to it, it will not damage the recorder.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

DOES THIS LAPTOP HAVE A DVD BURNER?

Ok here is how you can check
Look on the side of the laptop where the CD-ROM drive is and on the outside of it should be written DVD-RW if that's not on it then it does not have a dvd burner!

Dvd burner issues

If you have control over the burning speed, then lower it. besides that, make sure that your laptop is not over heating since alot of lenses (cdrom, dvd, cdrw) are affected by the system heat. clean out your fans by using compressed air. You may try to reseat the drive as well if you're able to unscrew it (usually there's one screw holding it in place at the bottom of lower shell yet it's not always the case for every laptop).
