SOURCE: ELNA 7000 SEWING MACHINE

If you bend over the front of the machine, you will see a slider switch on the back of the machine, and there is a small "button" at the bottom right of the switch (your right). If you push this button down, you can slide the slider switch to your right and the feed dogs will go up.

SOURCE: sewing machine motor will not run after attempting

Overload Viking:
The machine has a built in overload protector, if your needle can’t penetrate, it may stop the machine from working for a few minutes. Just wait it will reset automatically. Then, try a Sharp needle (denim needle is ideal) and be sure to Never Never reverse sew on heavy fabric, your needle will bend and hit the needle plate, use the FIX button for knotting (it really does work).

SOURCE: Sewing thick fabric and machine won't send it through

Sergers are not really meant to sew very thick material. The blades have a maximum amount of range, or thickness that they can reach to cut. If you go outside that range, get ready for a big repair bill! You can break loopers and even the needle plate when you "push" a serger. My advise would be to use you sewing machine for the, "pounding" work. The type of material matters too, A thick Quilt like fabric can be sewn becatuse it's not dense material. A thinner harder denim could max out at 3 layers because of it"s hard finish. If the fabric you're sewing isn't dense like, you could just need new knives.

YOu may have bent the needle. Put in a new needle and re-thread the whole machine. See if that works.

How do I fix my sewing machine that only wants fo sew backward

e reverse lever on a sewing machine is most often a push-button or mechanical lever that you push when you want your fabric to feed in reverse. This button occasionally gets stuck or broken internally in the reverse position, causing the machine to only run in reverse. If this is the case you may have to take it to a dealer to be fixed.

Why is my stitch all wavy on the bottom when i sew knits?

What you are getting is what's called lettuce edging.
How to Sew Lettuce Hem Two Ways

You could unconsciously be holding the fabric back when it is feeding through the machine so you are building in stretch. Or, the presser foot pressure could so high that the presser foot is actually pushing the fabric in front so it is building in stretch. If you have a presser foot pressure adjustment on your machine, you might try loosening it some. It would be helpful to use a roller foot or walking foot (if you have one) that will not impede the movement of the fabric but instead help the fabric move through evenly. Also, lengthen the stitch length and add a zig-zag. That will give the garment some give, but if the fabric does stretch, it will also go back to flat once you remove it from the machine.

My machine will chain without fabric but as soon as I place fabric and sew it will not make stitches on fabric

Be sure to use brand new needles in the machine (confirm they are the correct needles for the machine) and make sure they are installed facing the correct direction and pushed all the way up before tightened. Start a chain without the fabric, then when it's a couple inches long, raise the presser foot and add the fabric.

Could be your machine has a timing issue and probably requires service.

White sewing machine needle keeps breaking.

Machine breaks needles

1.make sure you are using the right needle for your type of sewing machine.
Most machines can use generic Schmetz needles. There are cases where the machine will only use ones specified in the owners manual.

2.the presser foot may not be installed properly

3.use the correct needle for the type of fabric you are working with. To fine of needle on heavy fabric or to course a needle on silk or jersey can damage fabric.

4.let the feed dogs guide the fabric & the feed dogs will work with the presser foot .

5.the needle is not all the way in -push all the way up against the stop

Sewing forward

Sounds like the timing has been adjusted to be 180 degrees out of sync if fabric moves towards you while sewing, rather than away.
