Question about Imation Apollo (27223) 250 GB USB Hard Drive

1 Answer

JPG, MP3 and folders no longer accessible. I cannot see them nor use them. When running an undelete file program finds them (about 10000 files) but when recovering them it get stuck and does not finishes its task. It does recover some unusable files though. When trying to run a check (by the way I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bits) from the drive property window I get a message saying it cannot check now because the drive is in use and suggestss to schedulle it for later. But I have nothing active that is using that drive. I have had this imation Apollo 25 PHDD for about a year and never had a problem. Another bit of info, it is running in FAT and not in NTFS. What can I do to recover my files and re-gain use of (what I thought) my backup drive? Thankfully, Icaro

    Thanks JEFFXC for your reply.
I use a laptop running vista and the laptop's HDD runs in NTFS, it is just this external HDD (Apollo 25 PHDD 250GB) that runs in FAT. At this stage I scare to convert it to NTFS as I could never recover my files.

Thanks Jeffxc, I'll do that, but before though, could you tell me if by changing my drive to NTFS would I loose the ability to recover my lost files?

File deletion problem from Garmin c550

If your undelete program lets you undelete the _P3 folder, do it. Then try renaming it to MP3. See if this helps. This is the folder in which all of your music is stored. If it allows you to change the folder name, you should now see (and be able to delete) all of your music files stored on the GPS.

Lost my photos

Download a program called FreeUndelete from here and install it but before you open it, connect your MP3 player or insert your SD card. After you start the program up, select the drive letter that represents the memory you want to scan for deleted files. Click the scan button above the list and wait. If there's too many results, then look near the bottom of the window. There should be a "Filter found files" line where you can enter in the file type of the photos you lost. It probably should be this: "*.jpg" Once you have found the files you want to recover, create a folder you want to save them to in your My Documents folder and copy the path to that folder by right clicking on it then clicking properties. The path you need to copy is the line called Location (don't actually copy "Location: ". Just what's after it :p ) Now paste it in the line called "Undelete selected file(s) To" under the "Filter found files" line. Make sure you paste over the existing text. Finally, click the Undelete button to the right and Voila! check the files out in the folder you created in your My Documents folder.
