Question about Akai Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Akai LCT2701TD suddenly went dark last evening while watching a DVD in the combo player. The power light on the front of the TV is flashing red. The set will not power back on even after unplugging or resetting the vacation switch. The DVD will not release from the player. Does this sound fixable?

Hi,

To begin with, this is an internal failure. These are common issue with these sets. There could be a blown or faulty component that resulted in the above condition. Unit needs to get repaired. If you have electronics repair experience, could read schematics, would be able to use multimeter and soldering iron and keep precautions, revert and i would be glad to provide few pointers to solve this, unless you could call a TV tech on site or take the TV to the shop to avoid any trip charges.

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

TV won't turn on

It sounds that, the memory IC to your TV has damaged. This IC can be located very near to main system control IC. A very small one, with 8 solder terminals. Even though it is very small, function of it while the TV works is great. The work is a semi-skilled one, and you must have some knowledge in electronics to proceed.

Will not power on, blinking red "power on" light

The power supply might have a shorted/defective diode(s), blown resistors, capacitors if the light is blinking on the front of the LCD.
I repair these power supplies, write to jah2mil@hotmail.com if you need further assistance.

Red power indicator light is blinking

The flashing light indicates a short circuit inside the power supply circuitry. This type of repair is not a DIY without a multimeter, desoldering iron and hand soldering skills. I repair these power supplies, if you need further info write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

No Picture or operation

The red blinking light indicates a shorted part inside the TV. It normally happens when the power supply is trying to compensate the demand for proper or clean power to the rest of the boards. Most of these power supplies have defective capacitors and shorted zener diode(s) as well open surface mount resistors.

Its busted. Try resetting it as a last resort, unplug the AC, wait 1 minute, then plug back in. If that doesn't work, its in need of professional service.

Flashing RED Light

Our AKAI also shut off & the red light started to blink...got no help from AKAI, but did from COSTCO. We bought the set before the 90 day warranty they have in place now, so they referred us to COSTCO Concierge Services: 1-866-861-0450. We were referred to a repair service & after discovering what the problem was found out that AKAI not longer has parts for this model. COSTCO replaced our TV---talk about satisfaction guaranteed.

Akai PT5598HDX/SMS won't turn on

Just a thaught, I could be wrong, maybe a problem with the power button on the remote ? It might shut the TV off, and when you do keep pressing the remote button, the red light on the TV will keep flashing like that also. Ive seen this prob on a few other blogs, so seems to be pretty common. I know I like to keep the remote pointed at the TV all the time, maybe try pointing it away for a while, just to see.
