try scanning for viruses with an anti virus program. Download spybot, that helps to get rid of spyware. Next, download firefox and use that instead of explorer

Try removing internet explorer and reinstalling. If that doesn't work try using Firefox instead, that will help to figure out where the problem is (eg. if firefox works fine you know the problem is with IE) and at least you'll have a better browser, and a backup if needed.

If reinstalling IE didn't solve the problem, then you may have a virus, try using an antivirus program, such as Avast (the only one I use) and some anti spyware/malware programs, such as Adaware and Spybot:search and destroy (both preferably).

Oh and if you have any 'toolbar' addons such as google toolbar or yahoo toolbar etc, then get rid of them, they are spyware (they send info back on what you do) and will only cause problems, especially if you have a few of them.

Be sure your firewall is activated. You can chose to use the windows firewall pre-installed on your Netbook or you can activate the firewall in you anti-virus package.

I would suggest you to Download Malware Bytes (Freeware) from web and install it on your computer. Once installation is completed Logon in Safe Mode and run a Quick scan until you find all spywares removed. Follow the steps mentioned below to get to the safe Mode.

Sounds like spyware / malware i would use an online scanner like Eset or a program like Malwarebytes.

also to stop the computer from restarting open the command prompt window (start menu, click run, type cmd, click ok...) type "shutdown.exe /a" without the "" and there is a space between exe and /a this will abort the shutdown.

You gave no mention of anti spyware or antivirus programs.

You need to reboot your computer in safe mode (F8) as it is starting.

Once in Safe Mode, run your antispyware, antivirus and antimalware programs. then restart in normal mode and run them again.

If you have none of these programs, try:

Advance system Care - anti spyware
AVG AntiVirus
Security 360 - anti malware, trojans

hi!sometimes the best way to get rid of all virus/malware is to do a a fresh install of the operating system,for that :

1. do copy all important data on ur compu especially on the desktop and the my documents as they will be lost,also all purchased software will be lost 
2. u will need the installation cd of xp and the drivers cd of your laptop..u may get the drivers cd from the hp website at hp.com (do check) so the important thing is to have the windows xp cd..

you have to install a spyware program you can by them at walmart or a computer store or if you have windows vista go to google and type in free spyware docter download and that may get rid of your spyware
