The error code should reset after replacment. If it did not you may have a bad fuser or all connectors to the fuser are not connected or are bad or you may have a bad logic or power pcb.
Hope that helps...

Error 76 is a fuser error, you can try going in and out of service mode, press the following key combination all within 2 seconds " features or function , * , 2 , 8 , 6 , 4 , " if done fast enough the all the lights willl be flashing. Them exit out of service by pressing 99. If the error returns after startup the fuser will have to be replaced.
Fuser or overheat error it will probably be followed by a 77. Menu, mode and 0 quickly in that order will give access to user maintenace mode (lights will flash once your into the mode). Hit 91 to reset the machine. If this doesn't work you have a major problem with your fuser unit and it will need to be replaced. DO NOT DO THE ABOVE PROCEDURE MORE THAN ONCE AS YOU WILL START TO MELT STUFF IF THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.
Machine error 76 is a bad fuser lamp. Machine error 78 is a bad thermistor. Machine error 77 means you hade either a Machine error 76 or Machine error 78 and turned the machine off.
Sometimes the machines will give a false code and can be reset. Unplug machine. Hold down the Menu key while powering back up. You should still get a Machine error message. Enter the number 9...The display should change to Maintenance 9 then enter 1. The Machine error will return. Enter 99 and then make a test print. If you get either a machine error 76 or 78 you will need to have service done on your machine to have either the lamp or thermistor replaced, and depending on the usage of the machine, it might not be a bad idea to replace the entire fuser.
