    Yes,

The handle should be all of the way UP, in the horizontal position before attempting to dial out safe.

Testing your combination: Your safe's combina- tion is printed on the front of this owner's manual. You will have a 3-number or 4-number combination depending upon the model purchased.

    3-NUMBER COMBINATION (Cannot be changed)

    1. To unlock and open

Before dialing your combination, simply insert the key (if equipped) in the lock and turn until the plunger pops out. Remove key.

NOTE: The safe will lock if key lock cylinder is pressed in with or without key.

    A. Start the dial at zero. B. Turn the dial to the left. Make sure ZERO

passes the pointer at least THREE times. Then stop at the first number of your combination.

    C. Turn the dial to the right. Stop the SECOND time you reach the second number of your combination.

    D. Turn the dial to the left. Stop the FIRST time the pointer reaches the third number of your combination.

    2. To close and lock

You can relock the safe in two ways. With the door closed, depress the key lock (if equipped) with your finger, or spin the combination dial one full turn. For greatest security, do both. (Make sure the door handle is in the horizontal position.)

Hi!

As a I know... the only help you can get is to ask for some technical experts to do the hands-on on breaking in your safe using a power tool..

I'm sorry for that!!!!

But I read a story of an owner with the same safe having the same problem like yours and a little trick does for him. This might help you too...

" If you have a safe sentry with a dial-type of combo lock....... try subtracting one from the middle number of the combination that was provided with the safe"

... It works for him...might work for you too....

The safe can be opened using the factory set 5 digit code found on the documentation that came with it. You can also call 1-800-828-1438 with the serial number and get help.

I have the combo, but what is the direction? Do

Locksmith Instruction manual on how to dial open sentry fire safes.
NOTE: If your safe doesn't have a key, skip Step 3.
Turn the dial to zero.
Insert your sentry safe key and turn it until the plunger pops out.
Turn the dial to the left (counterclockwise) three times to the first number of the combination (pass the first number of your combination two times, stopping on it the third time).
Turn the dial to the right (clockwise) two times to the second number of the combination (pass your second number once, stopping on it the second time).
Turn the dial to the left to the last number (stop the first time on your last number).
Pull the handle down; cracking Sentry Fireproof Safe open.

Key is not working

Nice looking safe. You can download an owner's manual from sentrysafe.com.
Some safes have provisions for supplying power to the combo in event of battery failure.
I don't know how it is supposed to operate with key.

Can't open sentry v260 safe

Make sure you are inserting key so the round hump on key matches red dot on lock, and turn key clockwise.

If that doesn't fix it, SentrySafe's support number is 1-800-828-1438.

I would think they can confirm the combination from your serial number. They probably won't give you the combination without a notarized letter, but if you have the right combination for that serial number safe, they may confirm that you are entering the right combination.

Be aware the 4 number combination V260's are changeable and if you HAVE changed it, you are on your own, they can't help you. The 3 number combinations are not changeable.

Have a Sentry V260 safe. The #1 button will not register when pressed. All other buttons register except for the #1. And the #1 button is in the combo. How else can I open it or how can I fix this button?

You can do a Key override
If your electronic lock fails or you do not have any codes
available, you may use a key override to access this unit.
1. Remove the battery cover, disconnect and remove the
battery holder.
2. Insert the skeleton key (second set of keys provided)
into the key hole inside the opening for the battery.
3. Turn the key to the right.
4. Turn the four-bitted key to the right.
5. Open the door.
