Question about Whirlpool Duet 3.8 cu. ft. Front Load Washer
The water level switch (also known as a pressure switch) can be accessed by following these steps:
1. UNPLUG the washer.
2. Remove the top panel of the washer by locating and removing the three screws holding it in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off.
3. With the top panel removed, the pressure switch will be located on the RIGHT-HAND side towards the rear. The switch is usually brown or gray in color and will be mounted to the side of the washer cabinet.
You can reference helpful exploded view parts diagrams at searspartsdirect.com. The pressure switch is referenced as item number 20 (part number W10156252). There is a substitution part number from the manufacturer available as well - W10312527.
NOTE: You can use the following websites as well:
If your model number does not cross reference to some of these websites, use the part number(s) for your search criteria. The model numbers may not always be available on every site, but the part numbers usually will cross reference.
FYI: BEFORE assuming the switch to be defective, double check to ensure the plastic air hose leading to the switch is still attached and not ripped or torn anywhere. If the air hose has come loose, or if it has any leaks, the pressure switch will not function properly and the washer will continue to fill and not shut off.
If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Testimonial: "THANK YOU THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL"
On the inside of right-hand side panel of the body of the washer, along the top and toward the back of the machine, you'll find a rectangular box (approx 4 inches square) and right behind that is a small plastic part with a small hose plugged into the bottom of it. That small plastic box is the water level sensor, but the hose needs to be securely connected on both ends for it to operate properly.
