If its a front load, do you know about the clean out drain behind the lower front panel? Get ready with a bucket to catch all the water, lint, money and bobby pins coming at you. Under the door there is a panel, you will need a screw driver to get it off. Under that panel is a knob to unscrew a pull out.

Had similar problem. I removed bottom front panel, took plug out let it drain then removed trash in it(coins, screws, just random stuff). Went a step further took pump out and removed back off it and found Bobby pins stuck in it. Put all back together and works fine. Make sure to have towels for when removing plug

Coin stuck in agitator. how is agitator removed

Normally you can take the top of the agitator off with the use of a screw driver or by turning couter clockwise. Once the top is off you should see a nut or bolt. Removing this will allow the agitator to be removed.

I think I have a bobby pin in my washer. It clicks when it agitates. How can I get into the drum to find if there is one?

I doubt that it's a bobby pin. The noise more than likely comes from the belt. Perhaps it's starting to fray. You can inspect it from the rear of the washer by removing the back. This diagram show the parts required to take the tub out if the belt is ok.

During the spin cycle, my maytag washer makes a rather loud clicking sound and stops spinning. It immediatly starts back and the process repeats every time the machine spins at top speed.

Hi
The problem most likely is something stuck in the water port of the drain pump.
The pump is located in the front right bottom of the machine and accessible by reoving the lower front panel, It is held in place by 4 small screws and is connected to the drain lines. Disconnect the plug for the outlet, then disconnect the power connection from the pump. Disconnect the drainlines after removing as much water possible from the drum as the water will come out of these liines when you remove them. Remove the pump, open the cover to see the impeller and hopefully the bobby pin, nail, screw, or whatever else is stuck there will be visible and easily removed. Put the pump cover back on, replace the drain lines and screws, and reconnect the power connection to the pump.

Bobby pin stuck in washing machine - high pitch noise during spin

I just had this exact issue and was able to solve it myself. I thought I was in for a $300-400 fix. It sounded like the bearings or transmission was going out it was so loud.

My first clue was from the bobby pins **** in the stainless wash tub. The first thing I would do is put a 2x4 underneath the front to prop it up and pull the belt off. Spin the three wheels down there and see if they're all smooth. In my case the water pump did not spin smooth, something was wrong.

To get to the water pump, you need to take a putty knife to push the clips in the top, one on either side and the whole top will prop open. Next there are two bolts you need to unscrew and the front will slide out. The water pump will be on the front right. You need to take a large plyers or vice grips and squeeze the clamps to pull the two hoses off (keep a towel handy because there's probably water in them yet too). Pull the hoses off and now you should be able to have access to the 3 x 10mm bolts the hold on the water pump. Pull the pump out and inspect that there isn't any thing obstructing the impeller blades. In my case two bobby pins were wedged in there making the racket. I was able to take a real long needle nose plyers and pull them out.

Putting it all back together is reverse of what is above.

Whew! thought I was going to be out some bucks for the repair tech coming out! Hopefully someone else finds this usefull!

Washer whines any time the agitator is moving or spinning, not while filling, etc. What might this be? I live in the middle of nowhere and my appliance repair man has died of old age. Literally.

We took the housing off the washer and started the machine, albeit carefully, and followed the squeal. Sounded like the water pump thingy in the front. Took that off from the machine but still connected to the hoses and the squeal stopped. Dipped and drained machine, removed water pump thingy and looked inside. Found a really beat up hairpin/bobby pin lodged inside! (I have two teen daughters at home) Removed pin, put back together, and wah-lah, a few hundred dollar miracle, no squeal!

Any E20 code means your washer doesn't drain.  More than likely there is a screw, nail, coin, bobby pin, etc locking up your pump and causing it not to drain.  Keep in mind that your washer has a 1 yr warranty but some service companys will charge for this kind of repair because it is not technically covered under warranty.
