Hi,

For some reason the bobbin thread must be too hard to pull for the needle to pick it up.Take the bobbin out of the bobbin case and clean the bobbin case thoroughly. Thread and lint may be built up keeping the bobbin holder from turning.
Old the bobbin holder in one hand and pull some thread off the bobbin. You should feel a slight resistance but the thread should pull out fairly easily. If you feel too much tension, remove the bobbin and clean the bobbin holder thoroughly

If this does not resolve your problem, there may be some other mechanical failure.
the you will need to have it serviced.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Needle will not pick up bottom thread

Try a brand new needle. Verify it is installed correctly.

Remove the bobbin. Check that the bobbin is turning the correct direction and the thread is threaded correctly in the bobbin case. Reinstall the bobbin case and make sure that it latches.

Retest your machine. Manually turn the handwheel and watch the needle descend and see if the thread picks up the bobbin thread. If not, then the machine may have a timing issue. Take it for service.

Needle won't pick up bobbin thread. Has been working fine all week. I changed the needle, took out the bobbin case, cleaned inside but there were no threads or lint. I rethreaded machine and tried a new...

Most of the time it is because the needle was inserted with the flat side facing you instead of away from you. And for the heck of it, put in a different needle, there may have been a burr or some defect on your new needle. Other than that, it could be your timing.

check to see if you have your needle in backwards
have you checked your needle to see if it's bent-roll it on a flat surface & see if it rolls good
check to see if the needle is blunt-makes a popping sound when going thru fabric
check to see if the thread is getting caught on the notch of the spool of thread
check to make sure the bobbin is not warped
check to make sure there are no burrs on the bobbin case
check your upper thread tension

Top thread doesn't pick up the bobbin thread (Toyota sewing m.)

Hi! This may sound silly, but if you changed your needle and put it in backwards (which is easy to do), the top thread won't pick up the bottom thread. Take your needle out and check the flat side of the needle shank--which way is it facing? With a lot of the newer machines, the flat side goes to the back, but check your manual to make sure.

Let me know if this helps, ok?

Happy Sewing!

I went over to put in a new needle and I cleaned it top and bottom, put in a new bobbin, and a new needle and the needle won't pick up the bottom thread. What am I doing wrong? Please help me!! It has to be something simple, as this is such a simple machine! roseandjimmy@yahoo.com
