Question about Sunpentown Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

Sunpentown WA-1220M room Air conditioner (on wheels whit exhaust hose...) can be run but 5-6 hours before the bucket it full of water. WE have had this unit for at least 2 years, I think 3, and this has only happened maybe three times. Now it happens every single night... The obvious answer is that I moved to the jungle, however, this is not true. I have not moved residences or even placement of the unit in the house.

the only hose is the exhaust hose that comes out the back that is in the window, is that what you mean? Or do I have to take this thing apart? Thanks for your help.

It would seem that the unit is working properly. Did you recentrly change it's location? Is it near a bathroom door?

Check the hose for a leak.

What used to re-circulate might now be leaving the system via a leak.

How do I troubleshoot this unit to see why it is not working?

First check the box were the water goes. Not sure if you have a hose going out the window with the plastic hose the air conditioner will not work when the water bucket is full it should have a light on the front of the machine that shows you.

Tip

Dehumidifier VS. Air conditioner

A dehumidifier is basically the same thing as an air conditioner but both coils (condenser and evaporator) are in the same unit meaning a dehumidifier exhaust warm air in the same room it is in. running a dehumidifier would make an air conditioner run more because of the warm exhaust, when you run an air conditioner it acts like a dehumidifier and dries the air. As far as saving energy it all depends on the size of the AC and dehumidifier and the size of the room. If you want warm dry air, use a dehumidifier; if you want cool dry air run the AC but not both.
How do all these parts fit together to pull moisture from the air? It's fairly simple, but very effective:
  1. A fan collects air from the surrounding area and pulls it into the dehumidifier.
  2. As the air passes through, it comes into contact with the dehumidifier's cooled coils. These coils use condensation to pull moisture from the air. The collected moisture remains on the coils and drips into the dehumidifier's reservoir.
  3. The dehumidifier reheats the air and exhausts it back into the room.
A dehumidifier usually has a removable plastic bucket for are reservoir; most buckets also have a place where you can hook up a hose so the collected water can drain straight into a floor drain or pump. This frees you from having to remember to dump out the water. But don't worry too much about the reservoir overflowing -- most dehumidifiers also have an automatic shut-off. If you're using a dehumidifier in extremely moist conditions, however, or if you need to keep your dehumidifier on all the time, you should look into a unit with a built-in condensate pump, which regularly pumps water out of the unit's reservoir rather than simply relying on gravity to empty it as a hose does.

My everstar blows hot air out the back and cold air in front i want all cold air

this style unit needs an exhaust hose attached to the rearand be placed out the window to exhaust the heat that is removed from the air in the room, you will also have to empty the condensate drain bucket when it gets full.

It was working good last year, but this year we have to drain the water every 4 or 6 hours beacause the unit stop workin because all the water.

Normal Operation. Part of the unit's job is to dehumidify. If it is more humid this year than last, it will fill up quicker. One of the pains of a portable A/C unit.

No water in bucket when AC tells me its full

remove the drain bucket and look inside. there should be a hose that runs from the evaperator to the drain bucket. if you can blow air through hose to see if it is clogged. or try to take casing off and pour a little bleach/water mixture down tube , it probably has some mold built up in it

My Sunpentown WA-1210E airconditioner stopped working. It emitted several beeps and the power light is blinking continuously. When I unplug, wait a few minutes and replug in the unit, it shows the same...

Have you checked the water container in the unit? It has a float switch that when it is full it will not allow the unit to run so that it will avoid spilling water on to the floor. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(

Why is my sunpentown WA-1210H portable AC not blowing cold air anymore?

Might be a dirty filter, a burnt compressor wire or a bad capacitor. Or it could be a bad thermostat.
