Iron does not heatl. Red light pulses on and off.

Why does the red light pulse on and off if the thermistor is blown? The red light is integral with the thermostat, so that's probably where I need to start.

I won't have time to tear the iron down until Monday.

If your device is out warranty, then you can get it repaired or replaced. Could the heating coil is broken. The heating coil in the iron cannot be fixed, but must be replaced.

Either the element has gone or the wires that connect to the element have burnt away, either way you will need to take off to check it. Other possibilitie is the thermostat, this could have packed up, but remember that need taking it apart to see whats wrong. FInallt, other problem is that a new iron is cheaper than taking it for repair when labour and parts are added up (unless do it yourself then its cheaper to buy a new iron).

Keep us updated.

This usually indicates the Thermistor has gone "Open Circuit" or the Thermostat has failed, even perhaps the element has burnt out, without using a meter to test it is impossible to tell.
usually spare parts for irons are very very hard to obtain unless a big brand name and even then some are difficult. However in saying that many parts used are "Generic" so almost any "Other" part that works and fits, would be Ok to replace with.
If you wish to DIY then use a meter to check all the parts of the circuit, the component that's "Open" circuit is the part to replace, only after of course, checking there isn't still a fault, like a short circuit, still on the unit, once all clear, replacing the faulty component should restore the iron to functionality.
If you don't wish to DIY, then take your iron to your local service center and ask for a "Quote" for the repair, then you can go from that.

Why light blinks then goes off when switch is still in the on position

The thermostat in the iron controls the temperature of the iron. The red light indicates when the power applied to heat the iron which is set by the temperature dial on the iron. When it reaches the correct temperature the thermostat turn off the power and that is when the red light switches off.

The red power light comes on but the digital display doesn't always come on

The red power light indicates that your main power is getting to your iron and the digital display not working indicates that you have a problem with your iron electronics control circuit: if still under warranty, return it to be fixed otherwise consider buying a new iron as the repair cost in general can be quite high for 'electronic' iron (unless you have a handyman available!).

Hope it helps.

Autoshut off red light keeps flashing

I had the same problem and eventually removed the tilt sensor. This is the molded board that you see when you open the back of the iron. By removing it, you will also loose the timer off function. The thermostat will still be operational.

Red light flashing

Blinking red light is a standby phase, its not going to get hot like this. Shake it or just start ironing, the red light will go solid and the plate will heat up. The red light will go off when the plate is hot enough. It will go on again (solid) after a few minutes to keep the plate at the right temperature. If you leave it standing around for a while it will begin blinking again (standby).

These irons are known for malfunctioning though, mine stays in standby and the plate never heats up! Hopefully yours is fine.
