Netgear WGR614 V9 Wireless

Is there a way to detach the factory installed antenna or is it soldered to the circuit board?

    Thanks.

A local chain store told me that a 7dBi antenna (Gigaware) with an R-TNC connector would work with the WGR614. "Just unscrew the default antenna and screw in the gigaware. Simple."

The factory installed antenna does not simply unscrew. I don't want to trash the router trying to get the antenna off. Is it a matter of removing what appears to be a clip on the base of the antenna? Any help is greatly appreciated.

HI, My router's wireless suddenly stopped working (after about 2 yrs). You can't see the little 'antenna' icon glow- the 'i' glows for a few times, then the antenna glows for a few seconds and then they both go off. Can some one help me resolve this problem?

Thanks very much...

Where is the reset button on the WGR614 v9 ??? I cannot find it to save my life. ;-(

The reset button is located at the back of the router just below the antenna, you need a small pin to press it. Hold it for about 15 seconds to reset your router.

Hi, can i attach an external wireless antenna for NETGEAR WGR614v9 router??

Hi,

Please note that it is not possible to attach an external antenna to this router as it does not suppport detachable antenna. To extend the wireless range I would suggest you to upgrade your router with a powerful router say WNR2000 or WNR834Bv2

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

If I have helped you, please help me, and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. If you cannot rate this post with the highest rating, then please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Netgear antenna

The short answer is, it's not detachable unless you crack open the router. If you're comfortable with soldering and electronics, you can try what this guy did. Check "John Woo Fan"'s comments at this link:

Hi,

The antenna for the router WGR614 is not detachable. you can not dismantle it without breakng the antenna.

This is a SOHO product and does not support detachable antennas.
