Hi,

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)

There is a misconception hiding here in your statement. A decimal result on a calculator is often no more than an approximation: Try expressing 1/3 as a finite decimal representation. So, the only exact results that you may get are those displayed as fractions and those with radicals.

Now let us address your question. The calculator has a limited display capability. Any decimal result that is too small or too large to fit in the display window will automatically be displayed in scientific notation (the one with exponents).

If you want exact results, you should set the Input/output to MathIO. Even then, if the expression requires more display space than is available, it will be displayed as a decimal number.

To compute a single result in decimal, press diamond ENTER instead of ENTER. You can also use diamond ENTER to convert a result to decimal. To have all results come out in decimal, press MODE F2, use down-arrow to move down to the "Exact/Approx" line, press right-arrow, then select "APPROXIMATE." Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit the mode screen.

To change from fraction to decimal, all it takes is a keypress. (change key)

.Not all decimal results (approximations) will be converted to fractions.

Anyway, if you want to set the calculator to display decimal results only,

if you do not want to change your settings There are two ways to foecr calculator to display a result in a decimal format.

Press [SHIFT][MODE] to access (Setup) and select [2:LineIO].

Just in case you want to revert to the other IO mode (MthIO)

Press [Shift][MODE][1:MthIO]

- Before pressing the [=] sign to get the result press [SHIFT] key. thus [SHIFT][=] displays a result in decimal format.
- If a result is already displayed and it is not in decimal format (fraction or radical) press the [S<=>D] key to convert it to decimal.
- The [S<=>D] key toggles between formats (fraction/radical to decimal and from decimal to fraction or radical depending on the format used in calculation.)
- That does not mean that every decimal number can be converted to fractions/radical.

Press [SHIFT][MODE] to access (Setup) and select [2:LineIO].

Just in case you want to revert to the other IO mode (MthIO)

Here is one solution. You might consider adding more robust error handling.

if the decimal numbers passed to the div function are multiples i will be a non-zero number of that multiple otherwise i will be zero.

Dim i As Integer

i = div(12, 0)

If i = 0 Then

'not multiple

' do this

Else

' is multiple

' do something else

End If

Function div(ByVal numerator As Object, ByVal denominator As Object) As Integer

dim n , d decimal

Dim result As Decimal

Dim remainder As Decimal

If IsNumber(numerator) Is True _

And IsNumber(denominator) Is True Then

If numerator <> 0 Then

n = numerator

d = denominator

Else

GoTo error1

End If

Else

GoTo error1

End If

result = Decimal.divide(n, d)

remainder = Decimal.remainder(n, d)

If remainder = 0 Then

div = result

Else

div = 0

End If

Exit Function

error1:

msgbox("Numbers must be non-zero numerics", , "Multiple check error")

div = 0

End Function

End Function
