Saw post about opening back panel but I need more detail as I don't know which hose or where the heater is.  Thank you!

The "photo" link took me to an online photography school - could not actually see any photos.

The drain DID finally clear. I poured hot water into the drain tray several times - each time it failed to drain having to soak it back up with a towel and try again. I gently used a craft-type pipe cleaner and pulled out some debris, then the hot water attempt worked and the water passed through.

Now I seem to have another problem. Water is dripping out of the small hole in the bottom of the freezer door where the tubing runs. I don't know if ice was in there and is melting or if that is a separate problem.

Every couple of days I find a puddle in front of the freezer side! Looks like coming out of hole below door!

You will have to remove the rear evaporator shroud. The drain system is accessed from the interior freezer compartment; you will see several Phillips screws holding the rear panel to the freezer rear wall. Remove the rear panel and clear the drain system by removing the ice build up and poor boiling water down the drain to melt and residual ice and to assist in removing any debris that may be blocked in the drain system. Once the drain is clear you will notice water flowing down the drain as you poor it in. Please keep in mind that the defrost drain pan located under your Refrigerator may overflow if there is an excess amount of water

Thats what ya gotta clear. I use a shop vac myself but I let the freezer thaw all the way out , you could use a hair dryer to melt the ice.

Water is leaking inside the freezer and collecting at the bottom of the freezer. It eventually freezes down at the bottom of the freezer.

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? it overflows into the ref.
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
If this was helpful please rate me.
Don't forget to check the icemaker for leakage, also

Maytag side by side fridge has ice forming in bottom of freezer and leaking onto floor in front of freezer door

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.
You have a frozen drain. You need to remove the back panel in the freezer. Do not touch anything behind the panel and don't poke anything. You need to remove as much ice from the bottom as you can. Then use boiling water to pour in the bottom section under the evaporator,I would put a towel in the unit to help catch the water. Keep adding new hot boiling water until the drain clears up and the water starts to drain. It can take a while sometimes the whole tube will freeze. You can add a duckbill to the end of the drain hose behind the unit to help stop this from happening part number
8055306 Just push it on the end of the drain line.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

Ice Maker leaks water inside the freezer

I see you said you looked and the water valve is off but the only that I know of this happening is a defective water control valve. Like a dripping faucet that when off slowly drips until the ice forms and then one the ice maker dumps ice and tries to refill the water goes in every direction. Unplug water valve to confirm what I am saying, Tell me if it continues to leak. Sea Breeze

I have a whirlpool sided by side refrigerator purchased in 2001, I have been hearing a sizzling sound in the bottom of freezer, I opened the door last night and saw the hot coils and water dripping on...

The problem here is that the defrost drain hose is clogged.

It is a fairly simple solution if you have a little time and patience. You will need a Phillip's screwdriver, a few bath towels, some hot water and a turkey baster.

- First turn the refrigerator off or unplug the unit.

- Open the freezer and remove all the food and shelves, you will need to use the screwdriver and take the rails off of the side walls, as you take them off line them up on the floor so you remember which ones go in which order

- Take the screws out of the back panel, the panel starts near the bottom of the freezer and comes up about 3 feet ( 1 meter ).

- Once the few screws are removed remove the light bulb is there is one. it may be hot so be careful.

- Now pull out about an inch on the top of this panel you just took the screws out of. Slide the panel upward about 2 or 3 inches. It may be a bit hard and bend but that is alright

- With it lifted you will see a small pan in the bottom of the freezer, it will most likely be filled with ice.

- Use the hot water to melt the ice and towels to clean up the mess.

DO NOT USE ANYTHING SHARP OR "CHISEL". You can damage the coils, use heat and hot water only, if you use a blow dryer or heat be careful not to heat up the side walls as they will melt.

- Once the ice is clear you will see a hole in the bottom pan about the size of a dime. Use the turkey baster and flush hot water in the hole until it flows again.

- While you are doing all this keep towels around the perimeter of the refrigerator to soak up any water that flows out the bottom, leave the towels there for a day or so to make sure you get it all up, a little leak for a few hours after the repair would be normal

- Once the drain tube is clear, you can put it back together and turn it back on

- The red coil and sizzling noise are normal. Every 8 - 10 hours your refrigerator goes into a defrost cycle to remove excess frost. The water from this heat normally goes down your drain into a pan under the frig and evaporates.

Frigidare Mod.FRS26H5AS Leaking water into bottom of freezer where it freezes then leaks out door

I had the same issue.. I checked this web site and found the solution (on another post).. It was the drain of the fridge being blocked.. I didn't know the existence of such drain.. it turned out that it got blocked with some dust, therefore with every defrost cycle, the water was not going down to the evaporator tray, then going inside the fridge (eventually freezing), then overflowing to the outside doors.. Check on youtube for videos on how to open the fridge and clean this drain.. Have fun..

Ice is forming on the bottom of the freezer (Kenmore).

Self-defrosting refrigerators dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle, usually via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates. (See a more detailed explanation of this in the How Things Work section of our website).

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator/freezer compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator/freezer. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

Water and ice dispenser leaking water

Just saw your post, sorry no one answered you. If the ice maker is leaking it has a crack or the dual water control valve is stuck open slightly. Most times it is the defrost drain behind the back panel and at bottom of the evaporator coil. Some drains freeze shut and some become blocked as the make the turns leaving the refrigerator. If you would like more information and photo help please let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze
