Question about Cameras

1 Answer

My son got a vivitar vs18b camera. The packaging says Mac compatible but when we put the image zone disk in nothing happens. I've tried clicking on the 2 files after opening the disk icon and nothing happens. I tried the Vivitar Website and found no solutions. One spot had to download the "experience software". I got a link to a blank page. Any ideas how to get the pictures from the camera to our Mac?

Try to get your money back for the camera. If not, go buy your son a better camera. Vivitar has no drivers for anything. Only what comes with the camera (WinXP only). Plus the viewfinder is junk, and the camera loses all store pictures when the batteries die or are removed. My son got one of these for Christmas, and I have never seen a worse piece of junk.

I need manual or CD,DVD that come w/ the vivitar experience image manager dvr-518 I cut into the package. What type of charger go with it. awatkins225@yahoo.com

The DVR-518 uses three AAA batteries. You can use either disposable or rechargeable batteries. If you choose to use rechargeables, you will have to charge them separately, outside the camera. Any battery charger will work, as long as it's compatible with the type of batteries you choose.

You can get more information about the camera, including the manual and software, at

Inserted 2gb san disc into my camera 3715 just keeps saying disc is full, tried to connect to computer to see what happens, been trying to establish connection for last thirty minutes nothing happening[mac...

Your camera was made long before SD cards of that capacity existed. It is only designed to be compatible with a maximum 256MB SD card, as per page 46 of the user manual for your model.

Your fix is to replace the 2GB SD card with the smaller capacity model of 256MB. It's plenty for your camera anyway, as it allows you 96 shots at the highest quality setting and about 2900 at the very lowest quality setting.

You can download a user manual for free from Retrevo by clicking here.

Vivitar software for a MAC

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am sorry to inform you that the camera's driver is only suitable for PC. A MAC version of the driver does not exist.
Try and use a help of a friend with a PC to do what you need to do.

IPhoto doesn't recognize Sony MVC CD300

Even though Sony Mavica digital cameras are listed as compatible with iPhoto, the camera has to be set to Picture-Transfer-Protocol (PTP) before you can download. In addition, you will need to open Image Capture in the Applications folder. As soon as these steps are taken, the camera is recognized by iPhoto and all photos downloaded into Image Capture.
