Question about Samsung LN-S3238D 32 in. LCD HDTV

Open Question

Ln s3238d with multi-colored dots running horizontally through the top and bottom 1/3 of the television. This problem occurs through all inputs as well as through the blue screen option. Ocassionally when i turn the set on I will get little multi color dots at randon throughout the screen but simply turning the tv off and back on again gets rid of those. This tv worked great for about the first year and a half then one line appeared at the top of the screen and over the last six months it has snowballed from there. I tried talking to a samsung person through 1-800-samsung and all she wante to do was set me up for a service call. the tv is obviously not under warranty any longer, i would just like to know if there is anyone who might be able to tell me what the problem is without charging me more then i paid for the tv.

SOURCE: I have a ln-s3238d that i got a couple years ago.

Hi andrew, its not a big problem.. Decent TV. but the pixels are DEAD. that means you have to recover them by fixing the LCD. this would cost you around £40-60 for a 32 inch TV. hope this helps!

Look for bad caps in the power supply first.

Horizontal bar of green tint the moves from bottom to top of screen

This may be a power supply fault, and what you are probably seeing is some switching noise breaking in through the display processor, or possibly the input processor. Because of the fact that the bar is moving, this means that the sequence is not locked to the main processors.

You should contact the place where you bought the set and speak to someone about an exchange. A one day old set should be exchanged right away, and I would argue that fact.

I don't want to mention any name brands, but I would have gone for a company that also manufactures TV broadcast and industrial TV equipment rather than one that manufactures appliances.
