Your tv tuner is set to function on both NTSC and ATSC. See below for the reference

NTSC (National Television System Committee) is the analog television broadcasting standard used widely in North America. It is referred to as a 525-line standard, but actually displays only 480 lines. NTSC is to be replaced with new DTV (Digital TV) standards in the coming years.

ATSC (Advanced Television Standards Committee) creates the technical standards for the US digital television system (DTV). These standards are expected to be used in most new televisions, as the US television system shifts from analog to digital.

Is the Rca true flat digital

I'd need the model number to tell if the RCA TV has a digital (ATSC) or analog (NTSC) tuner. The mandate for inclusion of the ATSC tuner depended on the size of the TV and the year of manufacture. Small (<25" diagonal) TVs didn't need to have an ATSC tuner when they were built until 2007. The older TVs could still be sold with a "cable-ready" or similar NTSC only label. (The 32"+ TVs had to have the ATSC tuners in 2005 and the mid-size TVs had to have the digital tuners in 2006.)

For example the 27F530T was manufactured in 2003 and only has a NTSC tuner. However, the 20F424T was manufactured in 2008 and does have an ATSC tuner.

I hope this helps.

How can i tell if my tv is digital

The iLo IWT3206 TV provides two built-in -- or integrated -- TV tuners: a National Television System Committee (NTSC) tuner and an Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) tuner.
While the NTSC tuner allows iLo IWT3206-viewers to receive analog, free-to-air TV broadcasts, the ATSC tuner allows viewers to receive digital TV broadcasts via a cable or satellite provider.
The benefit of having an integrated ATSC tuner is that it negates the need for a separate cable box or satellite receiver, which can take up space.

I have a Jensen TV, Model Number TS2050J. I need to know if it has a QAM tuner built in.

Hi.
No, your tv is an older model sdtv with an analog only NTSC tuner.

Newer model have an ATSC/Qam digital tuner, but not your model.

This means that if you want to watch tv, you'll have to get a converter box. It will have the ATSC/QAM tuner i it, and it converts the signal into lower definition NTSC, and then sends it to the tv through either coax cable, or rca cables.
Once in a great while you might even find one that has s-video output, but those usually are expensive.

I hope this helps you out.

What type of antenna do you reccomend cant get the tv to work at all no picture no sound not using cable no antenna tried auto PLEASE ADVISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets get started. First the TV you have does not have the new ATSC digital tuner built in. It uses the old NTSC tuner. You might find a few stations, however most major networks have gone Digital because the maximum power for NTSC is limited to 1000 watts. ATSC is the new digital standard for broadcasting both High Definition programs as well as standard definitions programs. So you will need a Digital converter box. They sell them at Radio Shack for around $60. You can get one on ebay for around $25. You will also need and antenna. A good old set of rabbit ears will work fine if you not to far (less than 25 miles) from the transmission towers. If your out in a rural area (greater than 25 miles from the tower) you may want to consider and outdoor antenna. Antennas Direct is a great source for antennas.

You can also get help estimating what kind of antenna you need at this web site:
http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx

However you may want to consider buying a new TV which will have a new ATSC tuner built in. You will still need and antenna.
Hope this helps.

    Tv Tuners

    Hey jp62388,

According to information provided by the manufacturer, this model TV should have a built-in NTSC/ATSC and QAM tuner. These should allow you to receive locally broadcast digital TV signals without the use of a set-top box or digital converter box.

If you're concerned about your TV's specifications, the most important thing you'll need to look for is a built-in or integrated ATSC tuner. NTSC is the old analog standard that is to be phased out in early 2009, while ATSC is the new digital standard that is to be used within the United States and Canada as NTSC’s replacement.

Should you have any other questions or concerns, I'd strongly suggest checking out the FAQ section of the federal government’s official DTV transition website:

    http://www.dtv.gov/index.html

    Hope this helps you out.

    Sincerely,
    Aaron

How do i convert my dtv-5801 to the new free digital air waves

My information indicates that the DTV-5801 has a NTSC (analog TV) tuner built in bot not and ATSC (digital tuner). It does have HDTV inputs to which an external tuner can be connected. For Off-Air Digital TV, add an HDTV (ATSC High Definition tunner) and you are set to go. Do not buy the DTV converters, they have down converters built in and only deliver SD to the outputs.
