Could be 2 reasons, since you changed your bag and this started happening, 1 is that you the aut/manual switch got bumped to manual. In manual it will run until you unplug it or set the switch to auto. #2 is there is a relay that has stuck in the on position. Sometimes rapping on it will jar it free, most times t has burnt contacts and will keep doing this, so replacing it is best.

What do the symbols and dial settings mean on the electrolux diplomat lx

Symbols..Question mark means "Put a bag in me", checkered light means : "Change me, I'm dirty"....pre-lit power light means: "You have Powaaa" to the unit and the thermostat light means the motor is too hot if it comes on, (most likely from a hose clog) and needs to cool down before the motor will run again. The settings on the control valve basically have to do with the auto shutoff when the bag needs changed. The lower the valve is turned, the more full the bag will get until it shuts off. Hope that helps!

When i vacuum for 15min, the vacuum turn off

Check for a clog in hoses or wand, your motor is trying to cool itself, in that effort apparently there is limit good air getting to the motor. Clean filters, change bag, unclog hose. If your thermal coupling is now bad, you may have to replace or remove. this is the item the manufacturer has installed to keep you motor from burning up from over heating.

I have an electrolux epic 6500 sr. The change bag light came on, I changed the bag, now it won't run properly. If the bag is out and the hose attached it will run or if the bag is in and the hose is off...

First, if it runs without a bag, there's a problem with the bag lock-out switch or wiring. This needs to be replaced/repaired by an authorized Aerus Electrolux technician.

First, turn dial on top of vacuum counter-clockwise so the smallest dot lines up with the arrow. See if it stays on. If not, detach hose and turn vacuum on. Place palm of hand over intake. If it turns off, it's possible that the tubes connecting to the CVA are clogged and simply need cleaned. This is most often caused by using "made to fit" Electrolux bags. Dust is sucked through the bags and into the motor compartment of the machine. All interior parts get covered in dust and need to be cleaned. If this is the cause, the vacuum is best cleaned and repaired at an authorized Aerus Electrolux store. If the vacuum shuts off, or won't turn on before placing hand over the intake, it's probable the control valve assembly is bad and needs replaced.

Another cause is an overheated motor due to clogged screen at back of bag well, full or clogged bag, dirty afterfilter, bad wiring/connections, clogged hose, clogged power head, or bad motor. It depends largely on the type and model of cleaner. Clogged wands are also a possibility, but unlikely.

Check and clean screen at back of bag well.

Replace bag. Make sure it's a genuine Electrolux bag made by Home Solutions.

Check and replace afterfilter if necessary. These should be replaced after every six bags.

Broken and worn wiring connections are often found in the hose ends due to abuse and normal wear and tear. You can check the continuity of the hose using a continuity tester or multi-tester. If a multi-tester, turn dial to one of the Ohm settings. Place one probe into one of the terminals on the end of the hose. This will be referred to as T1. Touch the other probe to each of the terminals/connections on the other end of the hose. These will be T3 and T4. One of them should read zero, the other should read infinity. Repeat this with the other terminal, which will be T2.

Drop a marble in one end of hose and let it roll through. If it doesn't roll through, the hose is clogged and needs to be cleared. Plug hose into the exhaust port of the vacuum, place other end in the in port. Turn vacuum on. This provides a blowing and sucking action which should clear the hose.
Detach hose from power nozzle (PN). Drop a marble into the wand end of PN. If it rolls through, it's clear. If not, there's probably a clog behind the brush where the intake opening is. You may be able to reach this through wand end with needle nose pliers, or either end with a knitting/crochet needle or a bent coat hanger.

If none of these "fixes" provide the answer to the problem, it should be taken to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis. Repairs or checks involving disassembly of the vacuum should always be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service technician.

The store nearest you can be found by following the instructions at the below listed link:

My vacuum turns on for a second and shuts off. I have replaced the bag and filter, and it still happens. The replace bag light turns on after I do this.

1. Detach the hose and turn on. If it runs, place hand over opening. If it shuts off, the control valve assembly is dirty or worn out and needs cleaned/replaced. This is a job that should be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech. It's most commonly caused by use of "made-to-fit Electrolux" bags, rather than the genuine bags made by Home Solutions.

2. If the vacuum keeps running after detaching hose and placing hand over in port, then check the hose. Drop a coin or similar small item through the hose. If it doesn't go through, there's a clog. It will probably be at the bend of the handle. Plug hose into exhaust port and turn vacuum on. Make sure the other end of the hose is in a bag to catch the dirt and stuff coming out. If you have problems, it's easily removed by a service tech.

3 lights show up on the top of my vacuum and the center one I don't know what it stands for. Plus, the vacuum seems to be getting too hot.

The one that looks like a cord plug lights up when the vacuum is plugged in and indicates it's getting power.
The one that looks like a thermometer lights up when the vacuum is overheating, and indicates there's probably a clog in the hose or power nozzle behind the brush.
The next one indicates there is no bag in the vacuum. Machine will not run.
The last one indicates the bag is full and needs to be changed. A full bag or clogged pores will result in overheating, however the vacuum automatically turns off when this happens to protect the motor.
It sounds like you need to replace the bag. If you still have problems, it's probably due to an internal part called a control valve assembly. That is an in shop repair, and the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for service. This is most often due to "made to fit" bags being used instead of "genuine" bags. In this case the motor and interior of the machine need to be cleaned as well. Dirt, even fine dust, in the motor will shorten the life of the motor dramatically.

We changed to a new bag and changed the filter but everytime we turn it on it goes off and the green light turns red.

Try this. Detach hose from canister. Turn on. What happens?
If it runs, place hand directly over intake port. What happens?
If it shut off immediately, an internal part is broken and needs to be replaced. This is a repair that needs to be done at an authorized Aerus, new name for the Electrolux company that made these vacuums, service center.
It's also a problem that's seen a lot when generic "made to fit" bags are used. Genuine bags are made by Home Solutions and will have their name on it. Use of generic bags also voids the warranty. Which, depending on date of purchase, yours may still have on the canister itself with it's components.
Wiring and switch problems can also cause this, so the machine, including hose, wands, and power nozzle, should be taken to a service center for a complete check.

The vaccuum overheats after about 10 min. i have cleaned out all vissable particals , is it the brushes? this is the electralux 1521 model

Have you changed the bag and filter ?
This usually happens when the motor dosen't get enough air over the motor to keep it cool. Try dropping a coin thru the hose and see if it comes out the other end. If it dosen't, try pushing a broom handle thru the hose to move the blockage. NEVER use a coat hanger or anything that could damage the hose and there are electrical wires that run thru it. If you still have the problem, take your vac to the Aerus/Electrolux store.

Bag was full, changed it, the unit now turns off

Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac.
This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.

I have an Electrolux LE canister. It runs for about 2minutes then shuts off for about a minute , then turns on again and it keeps repeating this routine!!! It is driving me nuts. What part do I need to...

The LE has a thermal cutoff. If the bag is overfilled or a bag breaks and clogs the bag chamber the vac will over heat.
This also happens if the hose, wand or neck of the power head is obstructed. Try dropping a coin through the hose, look through the wand and inspect the neck of the head for blockage. If the hose is clogged , remove the rear filter and plug the hose in to blow out the obstruction.
If all these components are clear, you either have a defective motor or bad thermal sensor.
Parts will come from AERUS Electrolux only.
