To remove the washer console and casing, follow these steps:

1. Unplug washing machine.

2. Remove console by sliding a putty knife under the front corner of each side and push in while lifting up. There is a retaining clip under each side that has to be released.

3. Once the console has been released it will lift up and fold back over the back of the washer in its resting position. Use care not to stress the small plastic hinges that hold it on. They can break easily.

4. Under the console will be two large brass colored clips. Take a large flat blade screwdriver and place it in the groove of the clip on the washer top. With the screwdriver firmly in the groove, push away from you towards the back of the washer. This will release the clips.

5. Disconnect the lid switch connector plug. This is the white colored plug on the washer top under the console.

6. Remove the washer casing. Open the lid of the washer. Using one hand, grip under the front rim of the washer opening. Do not grab the wash tub, just the casing. Tilt the washer case from the back first towards you, slide forward slightly, and then lift up. The entire case comes off exposing the wash tub and components.

To re-install the washer case:

1. With the lid of the washer open, grasp case under front rim and place it on the washer frame. While looking down through the washer lid opening, make sure the front lip of the case is placed UNDER the washer frame and rocked back onto the frame to ensure that the small cleats on the frame fit into the slotted grooves on the washer case base. If you do not get the case seated correctly it will rattle and vibrate while the washer is in operation.

2. Make sure the back of the washer fits into the washer casing on each side and reinsert the brass clips. Place the clip into the slot on the back of the washer first, and then forcefully push it into the opening on top of the washer. It will snap back into to place.

3. REINSTALL LID SWITCH CONNECTOR. It is easy to forget. If you do not reconnect it, the washer will not work correctly.

4. Reinstall console by placing the pastic tabs on each end into the grooves on the top of the washer casing. Place the back tabs in first and push the console down until it snaps back in place.

If you need further assistance please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

We have a whirlpool duet front load dryer, why does it beep during a cycle?? when clothes are still wet?

You can perform some Whirlpool electric dryer timer troubleshooting to determine if the timer is faulty or if the cause is somewhere else within the dryer.
  1. Access the Timer
    • Unplug the Whirlpool dryer power cord from the dryer electrical outlet. The timer is inside the control panel on the top of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the back wall so that the control console can be raised without hitting the wall.
Remove the single screw on each end of the control console that secures the control console housing to the top of the dryer. Grab the sides of the control console and raise the front of the console up and toward the rear of the dryer. With the control console in the service position you will now be able to test the timer.
    Test the Timer
    • Locate the dryer timer inside the control console. It will be directly behind the dryer timer control knob. There are two wires that connect from the dryer to the dryer timer. Place a piece of masking tape on each wire and write on the tape what terminal each wire attaches. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the wires from the terminal ends on the timer.
Set the scale on a volt-ohm meter to the RX1 setting to measure the ohms of the timer. Place one probe to one terminal and the other probe to the remaining terminal. You should get a reading between 2,000 ohms and 3,000 ohms. If you do not get this reading, replace the timer.
    Replacing the Timer
    • Pull the control knob off of the timer shaft on the face of the control console. Remove the two screws that secure the timer to the inside of the control console. Pull the timer out and take the timer with you to an appliance repair facility. Compare the new timer to the old timer to make sure that the mounting screws match.
Place the new timer inside the console and secure the timer with the two retaining screws. Attach the wires to the timer and remove the masking tape from the wires. Lower the control console and reattach the console to the top of the dryer with the retaining screws. Push the control knob back over the timer shaft. Push the dryer back against the wall and plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

Washer Case Removal for Whirlpool Top Loaders

To access the interior components on Whirlpool manufactured top loading washers, you must remove the exterior washer casing. The follow steps, explain how:

1. Unplug washing machine.

2. Remove console. This can be accomplished in a few different ways depending on which type of console you have.

a. If the console has removable end caps, the caps lift off by prying on the top from the back of the washer. The cap will pull off towards you as you are facing the unit from the front of the washer. There will be a screw under each end cap that you will need to remove.

b. If the console does not have removable end caps, you will need to slide a putty knife under the front corner of each side and push in while lifting up. There is a retaining clip under each side that has to be released.

c. Some consoles have a series of screws located in the back. Simply loosen the screws to release the console.

3. Once the console has been released it will lift up and fold back over the back of the washer to its resting position.

IMPORTANT: To correctly reinstall the washer case, follow these steps:

1. With the lid of the washer casing open, grasp the case under front rim and place it on the washer frame. While looking down through the washer lid opening, make sure the front lip of the case is placed UNDER the washer frame base in the front.

2. Lower the washer casing back onto the side frames. Make sure the small cleats on the side frames fit into the slotted grooves on the washer case base. If you do not get the case seated correctly it will rattle and vibrate while the washer is in operation.

3. Make sure the back of the washer fits into the washer casing on each side by leaning over the front of the washer and grasping the back panel and pull towards you to seat it.

4. Reinsert the brass clips. Place the 90 degree bend of the clip into the slot on the back of the washer first, and then forcefully push the J-hook end of the clip down into the opening on top of the washer. NOTE: Once the clips are snapped back into place, the washer case should fit tight and not move on the frame.

5. REINSTALL LID SWITCH CONNECTOR. It is easy to forget. If you do not reconnect it, the washer will not work correctly.

6. Reinstall console.

These procedures are much easier than they appear. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this information is helpful.

NOTE: Whirlpool manufactured top loaders include Kenmore, Roper, Estate, Frigidaire, Kitchenaid, Kelvinator and some later model Maytags.

Thanks

How do I replace the lid switch on a Maytag

Well the model # you listed goes to a Whirlpool machine so here goes.. The screws that hold the control panel on are located at the rear bottom of the end caps for the console/control panel, not the screws at the top of the control panel..
Once you remove those screws the control panel should slide forward 1/2 inch or so the up, and flip right over backwards towards the wall.
Once that is flipped up you will see the lid switch located in the left front corner under that console. Remove the 5/16" ground screw from the green wire, lift the connector release and remove the wire from the switch. Then carefully depress the plastic tab to release the switch and it should more or less lift right out.. No need to disassemble the entire cabinet.

How to remove lid from whirlpool la5800xt to

In order to service your Whirlpool top loading washer, you have to remove the exterior case to access the internal components. The following link explains how to access and replace the fill valve:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575881-replacing_water_inlet_valve_on_whirlpool

To open the operator console on YOUR washer, there are screws on the back (one on each side) that need to be removed first. With the screws removed, the panel should lift up.

Read through the link provided and let me know if experience any problems, or need additional assistance. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Refer to searspartsdirect.com for some helpful exploded view diagrams of your washer to assist you in assembly/disassembly and parts location. The inlet valve is located under the "Controls and Rear Panel Parts" section as item 18.

Door wont open on Whirlpool washer cabrio display says du

To Access/replace the switch:

#1

Unplug the Whirlpool Cabrio power cord from the wall outlet. Turn off the water supply to the washing machine. Pull the washer away from the wall so that you can access the screws behind the control console. Remove the hex head screws securing the control console to the washer with a nut driver. The screws are on the lower rear edge of the control console.
#2

Lift the control console up, and rotate the console forward so that the face of the console is resting on the top of the washer. Locate the interface board cable connector to the right of the plastic tube on the back of the console. Pull the end of the connector straight out of the control console. The primary machine control is the box that the plastic tube connects.
#3

Place small pieces of masking tape around the nine wires connecting to the primary machine console. Label the wire locations onto the masking tape with a pencil. Grasp each wire at the connector with your fingers, and pull the wires away from the primary control. Pull the plastic tube out of the primary control.
#4

Locate the nut toward the bottom of the primary control. Remove the nut with a nut driver. Lift the front of the primary control slightly, and slide it down to disengage the retaining clips. Pull the primary control out of the control console. Insert the new primary control into the control console. Slide the primary control up to engage the lower clips. Secure the primary control to the console with the single hex head screw.
#5

Push each of the wire connectors into their respective positions on the primary control until they lock into place. Push the plastic tube hose over the port on the right side of the primary control. Remove the small pieces of masking tape from the wires.
#6

Position the control console back upright on the top of the washer. Secure the control console to the washer with the three hex head retaining screws. Slide the washer back against the wall. Turn on the water supply and plug the washer into the wall outlet.

Whirlpool calipso washing machine

"CE" is a communications error between the motor controller and machine controller. This could be a simple problem of just a dirty contact, or it could be something more significant like a wiring harness or control board. There should be a tech sheet inside your washer on the front casing beside the wash tub. You will need to lift the top of the casing up to get to it. In order to do so, you will need to find the two retaining clips holding the top down. Insert a putty knife about 2 inches in from each side along the front seam and push in while lifting up. This will release the top and it will open up. Hold on the the lid as you lift the top as it will want to fall open. The tech sheet should be sealed in plastic on the casing. The troubleshooting steps, along with illustrations are all in this sheet. Both control boards are located inside the top console. Simply remove the screws along the back of the console to remove. Make sure you unplug the washer before attempting any readings. Use care when removing any of the wire connectors or handling the control boards. The wires, as well as, the control boards are delicate. If you do not have a tech sheet, let me know and I will guide you through the necessary steps to troubleshoot. I hope this helps.
