Question about Motorola Mobility ROKR E6 Smartphone

Motorola Motorokr Z6M will not turn on

Last Wed. my son was using his phone and it shut off. When trying to turn it on it will only display a M on the screen. I do not want to go through the painful work of sending it for repair through USCellular. Does anyone have any advice? This phone is only @ 6 months old.

    same thing happened to me on TWO DIFFERENT PHONES. exact same model 1st one lasted me less then a month. On this one I was just browsing my pics and it froze and now will only display the M. this one lasted about 4 months, but would shut off for no particular reason and at random times. sometimes, playing a game, sometimes on a phone call, sometimes, just sitting there. ridiculous.

    I have renewed my service with U.S. Cellular in December of 2007. I have 2 lines both of which I got a Motorokr z6m for. From the very start line 1 would randomly shut off on incoming calls. I took it back to the store I got it from and they told me that I am an idiot and that I don't know how to use the phone and to give it time, which I did. The problem only got worse. It got to the point in like 3 weeks after purchase that either incoming or outgoing would shut off or reset about 1/2 the time. Being still under 30 days I attempted to get U.S. Cellular to replace the phone. First they told me its too late and that I should send it in for repair , then upon screaming for 1/2 hour, they said yes you need to update the software. Take out the battery, replace it after 1 minutes, power up and do a *228. Which I did and the problem went away for a week. Then it started again. By now 30 days had passed and they told me to take it to their store with tech ( equals 2 days waste of time) to have it sent in for repair. I did not, continued screaming up the ladder . It took 6 weeks till after mindless number of rejections and nonsense alternatives , they finally replaced the phone. 3 months later , the new phone is starting to have the same problem. And now they just give me the finger. I handle the phone with extreme care and undevided attention. This phone is a lemon. I think there is something wrong with the battery connections that is not design well, and with flashing the phone open it momentarily disconnects and results in reset. Now back to the problem mentioned in this listing. The second line , two weeks after purchase started not to power up, only displaying the M Logo. This was resolved by getting a replacement phone. They said that the software is out of date ( which is ridiculous for a phone 2 weeks old) . So Thats basically what you have to do, to take the phone in and have them give you a replacement and or send it in for repair. The replacement phone on the second line is already displaying the reset problem that I have previously mentioned, which again I beleive has something to do with the battery and or its connections. I really think Motorolla must issue an immediate across the board recall and provide every one with a NEW replacement for the **** that they incidentally charge equivallent of $350 for.

    I also have the saem problem. In ending a call by the end button shuts down phone and it will not turn back on. Also when sending text it will just shut down and not turn back on, also dropped calls with full bars. an expensive phone for to many problems.

    Same problem going on here. for bout a month now I have been without my Motorokr phone. I took it to the Metro store they tried to put a new battery in and nothing happened. They then tell me I have to take it to the Corp. store. They really **** !!!

    i have the same thing happening to me. It turns off in incoming calls but it doesn't happen all the time. When I took it to the Alltel store they told me there was nothing they could do about it because it didn't turn off in the 5 attempts of them calling my phone. I've had it for 6 months and its been doing this the whole time. Then it erased all the info off my memory card and now it reads "unformattable" and is useless now. Alltel has THE worst customer service.

    I have the same M problem. I have insurance & recently replaced the phone because I dropped it & cracked the screen. I've had this replacement about 2 weeks & has been nothing but problems; i.e. dropping calls, static, & shutting off when closing the slide, etc. Now yesterday, the damn thing freezes while i tried to view old text messages, not a new one. Now im stuck on the M!!! A friend of a friend had the same problem 2 days ago & was told by MetroPCS that it's some virus & all contacts will be lost. Phone has to be replaced, unfortunately with another problematic phone...Endless frustration

    The ROKR Z6M has a problem running the firmware that MetroPCS (or is it POS?) has running in it. This is a known issue and has been for years, but Metro will not do anything about it... and why would they? At $10+tax every time you have to replace it (about once a week for me), they're making a bit of money just on recycling phones. That is EXACTLY what they are doing, by the way. When you get a replacement phone, it isn't new.

    i shut off my phone and it will no longer come back on and has the M.

    I tried almost everything... switched back and forth the lock and unlock but with no success. Of course i am a month over warranty and all can only charge me a fee to buy a new phone or charge me $50 to get a replacement phone. I am going to try to remove the Bat and Card for 30 min and give that a try.

HI, i got a new motorolla rokr z6m from metro-pcs (bad customer service) and as i drove away i found out the internet
did not work drove all the way back the dumb emploee admited
about the flaw and said that it was a software issue long story
short i protested and finally got my refund.
2 months later i foond out there was recall and issue fixed
well i got another new rokr z6m correct BIG MISTAKE folks
any how after use of a few days i discovered multiple issues
with freeze up , lock up, failures during calls, all the problems
mentioned in the previous articles in short it purely sucks
dont waste ur money buy something else stay away from
the motorolla rokr z6m model for metro pcs

Ugh, i bought my phone at the end of summer,
i got mine for a grading present.
i ahve a motoroka too, and i only had it for three weeks, and it had the M problem.
so we sent it away for two weeks, i finially got it back,
and two weeks later

I also get the M problem. To get around this I have been able to turn the lock button on and off or off and on then try to power it on again. This has gotten mine to come on.

As far as the shutdown problem, I have had my phone for several months and it continues to shut off on its own. My phone was in the shop in June-July for 5 weeks to have the software reloaded. I had it back for 1 day and it started doing it again. I sent it back in and they have had it for another 5 weeks as of today. US Cellular refused to replace the phone until it had been in the shop twice. I guess the numerous times I have been in the repair shop for them to fiddle with it doesn't count.

I have the same problem. i have a CDMA phone. After school today I was talking to my gf and all of a sudden wen i say bye. i tried to turn on my mp3 player and my phone shut off then wen i tried to start it, it wudnt go past the M symbol. i took it to the bell store, they said it wud hav to go out for service.

Wel i had the same problem with mine from metro pcs , it just got frozen so i went 2 da metro pcs main store the one in Lynwood Ca. tha i know is only 2 stores like this in Los Angeles California so that place was full i wait for 2 hours to talk to some one when finally spoke with the he just saw my phone and he knew my prolbem rigth away so he replaced my phone without ask anything.
so always get insurange and go with time to that store

Did you try taking the Memory Card (if you have one) and battery out for a full 30-min and then put the SIM/Memory Card back in and battery back in and reboot the cell phone. If it doesn't fully boot up you will have to send it away for service.

Stuck on motorola logo

apparently this phone has some issues and it may be time (after 7 times) to try another phone.
I don;t think there is anything you can do to change the fact that it's a POS
But if you absolutely need to do something, I would have a tech re-flash the phone with the current software.
Just out of curiousity, How much space is left on the phone after you finished putting music on it?
It may not have enough free memory to run the phone. If you have filled it up try deleting some contents and see if it gets better.

Hello everyone, I also have the same phone, and the same is happening to me, I've changed the phone 4 times in less than 3 months (Metro PCS carrier). My 16-year-old brother had almost the same problem with his RAZR 2 years ago, but he knew ho to fix it, so I gave him my phone everytime it freezed up. It seems the only way to fix this is:

take out memory card (if applicable)
take out the battery and put it on constantly.
If it doesn't work leave it charging for at least 1 hr. Then do all over again

you have to be real patient, it will take a while till it actually comes on.

UPDATE: I just fix my 4 and last phone, as of yesterday, while my cell was broken I switched to Sprint, and got me the new Samgsung Instinct S30

Jim, take out the micro sd memory card, restart the program connect your motorokr z6m turned on and happy sync.

You need to reprogram the phone. If you have the usb cable you yourself can do that. There are some softs can reprogram these phones with data cable.
