Question about Sony DCR-PC53E Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Hello My Sony DCR-PC55E 's cassette tape will not eject. I open the lid and there is soft ding-dong sound and a quiet buzz for about 7 seconds then nothing. I can repeat the process by closing and opening the lid. Initially the monitor is fine but I cannot record. Eventually a message appears saying "re-attach the power source". I remove and replace the battery and the same thing happens: within a few moments the same message appears. The battery is brand new and fully charged and I can read the charge amount on the monitor. Please reply to: Thank you in advance, Phil

SOURCE: camcorder tape door opening

I had a problem the same as yours and I found the problem on the ribbon wire connected to the board where all the control button is located ( stop, rew, play, fwd pause). The problem occur because everytime you eject the tape from the loading mechanism the ribbon wire also move like your cutting it into pieces. sorry for my english hope you get the idea.... wait for the photo and i'll show you what i mean.. hope this will give you the solution you need.

SOURCE: "Re-attach the power source" but tape is stuck, door open

I had the same problem. First, depress the reset button, located on the camera body (where the LCD screen closes over it). It is hard to see at first. It is important that the camera be set to the OFF position. When the camera is whirring after the reset, then hit the EJECT button so the tape comes out. Take the tape out and insert it back. That's it. My camcorder worked fine and let me record or plaback once I followed those steps.
