Question about DeLonghi Pinguino PACL90 Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Freon Replacement Where do I purchase the freon and how do I replace it? I'm sure that's my problem; a/c doesn't blow cold and the full tank code keeps coming up, and when I empty it the water is oily.

Most refrigerants for household appliances are regulated by the E.P.A. purchase and or service of the refrigerant must be done by an EPA Type I, II or III service technician. There are potentially huge penalties for non compliance.

This is a load of ****! The refrigerant that this unit requires, R22, can be bought at Walmart and loads of other hardware and other local stores.

"Huge penalties for non-compliance" Are you joking? We're talking about a portable air conditioner, not a 5 ton unit!

Find a manual and refill it yourself but be careful that you don't overfill. Definitely follow instructions and take precautions to keep from damaging the unit.

    P.S. Bleep*&$@! the EPA!!!

97 Plymouth Breeze won't blow cold air due to freon leak.

Your AC system is a closed system, so the fact you have to put more Freon in, means there is definitely a leak. I would check it out with a mechanic.

2007 Mitsubishi eclipse spider 2.4 blowing warm air not cold What is the paid supposed to be I know it takes 19 oz. Of freon I'm I suppose. To discharge before recharge?

Its best to evacuate the a/c but if you are careful you may be able to hook up your freon tank and lightly charge the system if it works cold just let it be and if when it is real hot it feels warm instead of cold you might add just a little more freon but be careful.

What are the Hi and Low pressures of the Freon for a Coleman model BRCSoi81BD??

If it blows COLD air "AND" the condenser freezes, it is a SURE sign of the system being OVER-CHARGED with FREON. Using a recovery tank and HVAC manifold/hoses, remove Freon from the system to the recovery tank, keeping a watchful eye on a multi-meter with an amp-probe around the compressor wire. When the OPTIMAL charge is obtained, the amp meter will dip to its LOWEST point. When a system is overcharged, it causes premature failure of the compressor.

Good luck.

Why wont my air conditioner on my '98 ford mustang blow out cold air?

More than likely your A/C compressor is the problem. Normally what will happen is the internal pressure becomes too high and causes the freon not to expand and therefore the air remains hot after the compression cycle. Have the high side and low side pressure checked. Am sure you will find the high side pressure is excessive. Good luck.

My lincoln mark lt pickup won't blow cool air

My lincoln had the same issue, first it was the A/C compressor (original). I replaced it with another one (used) and worked for 1 month. Then back to hot air. "A/C experts" told me the compressor was out again. I took it to a Mexican auto shop, old building where the guy works alone and to my surprise...HE FOUND THE PROBLEM!! There was no freon leaks, the lines were freezing cold inside the motor, checked freon>>full. He then checked the filter. This filter is on the end of the line where it is crimped that allows the freon to flow thru. Im no mechanic so explaining what it is, forgive me. I can only show you...the line is silver ad in front of you by the radiator, and its the same tube that goes to where you plug it to add freon. There is a filter that was clogged up and prevented the freon from flowing. He removed all the freon, vacuumed out the system/line, and replaced the filter for less that $3.00. Added freon and his cost was $80.00. Thank God for honest people who work hard for a living. I buy the parts, he replaces and I continue to give him my business. Other expensive auto shops with fancy buildings/prices My Lincoln Mark LT now blows arctic cold air!!!

My 2000 buick lesbre doesn't blow cold air like it

Hi bennysosiris...
If your compressor is starting and stopping regularly and it is not blowing cool as it one did then I would say:
Yes you need to add some freon to your system...depending what kind of freon it takes if would be better to take it in to have a professional install your freon to the proper pressure and volume.

Ac blows cold air for about 15 minutes then starts blowing warm air then starts blowing cold air again freon is full

Freon is not full. If it goes back and fourth it is pumping then reaching a low pressure on the low side below 35 psi. Pressure while car is off should be pegged. Check at idle should be around 50 psi and 35 psi at 2000 rpms.

Good luck. If problem persists evac system replace dryer and recharge.

A/C is blowing hot air. Freon is full, compressor

Not sure how you know if the freon is full without the unit running. There are a number of switches which can keep your A/C from coming on. There is a low pressure switch which is usually located on the larger line and sometimes located on a silver cannister (called an accumulator) which is the low side of a compressor circuit. There is also a high pressure cutout which is usually located on the back of the compressor unit. Both of these switches can be jumpered out to see if they are the reason for the compressor not working. You remove the two wire connector to either switch and place a small jumper wire between the two wires on the connector block. The other reason my be a low idle cutout switch and this will also usually be located near on on the compressor. You can also test it the same way as the other switches. If it is the low pressure switch then of course you will need to add freon which you can purchase from any auto parts store. They usually come with instructions and all the equipment needed to add in freon. If it is high pressure, then some of the freon should be recovered from the system by a technician. If is the low idle cutout then you will have to take it to a mechanic to understand why it is idling so low. Hope this helps.

When i turn on ac it blows hot air

Normally due to low freon. Also, notice if the a/c compressor clutch engages, as it will not if the freon is low.
