Problem for Motorola RAZR V3

Motorazr v3i lcd lights up automatically frequently

my motorazr v3i's lcd gets enlightened automatically after every few moments...(in the interval of 5 to 20 seconds...approx)...this is causing early discharging of battery. I am using the phone at lowest lcd intensity level to avoid early discharge.
how to fix this problem.

try a master reset of the phone or replace the battery
