HI, this is a very very common problem with all xbox 360's the problem you are having is as you all ready worked out not the games, the problem is with the laser it has started to stop reading the games due to it loosing its power, now if your xbox is less than 3 years old then you need to contact microsoft and they will then send you a refurbished working xbox 360, if how ever its over 3 years old then the only option you have is to get it repaired, now the problem with this is its not just a case of buying a new dvd drive and taking the old one out and putting the new in, the problem you have is that their are 3 different types of dvd drive you might have in your xbox but even when you find out which drive you have got then you also need to have special software to take the data off your old dvd drive and then put this data onto the new dvd drive, without doing this it wont recognise the new drive.

its not an easy job to do and if you have not done it before then its not something you should try doing, now some of the dvd drives can have the power to the laser adjusted but to do this you need to know what dvd drive you have got and you will also need special tools such as multi meter to read the readings for the laser as you adjust it, you need to look around for an xbox repair service near to you, i do alot of these but im in UK so probably no help to you in the respect,

some independent phone shops offer xbox repair service so have a look around and see what price you can get, the best option would be to have the dvd drive replaced as adjusting the laser may only work for a few days before it burns it out.

let me know if you need further assistance ok or if you have any questions

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Your laser is weak or one of the two
motor is weak. 80% of the time a new
20.00 laser installed will resolve the problem . Some times the best method
is to find out make and model drive you
have then buy one form ebay for 30.00-40.00 and remove the old Drives P.C. board and put it in the new drive . This
always works.

If you have any questions feel free to ask

The error message says disc is unreadable

Well, there's 5 possibilities:
-Your disc is, in fact, scratced and unreadable
-Your laser lens is scratched and/or dirty
-Your laser has burned out
-Your game is pirated
-Your laser assembly is jammed (not likely)

I get the message "error 11". What does it mean?

Error 11 is disk dirty, disc scratched, or mechanical failure. Try a lens cleaner. If that does not work, the CD player is bad.

Hope helps.

When we insert game discs in our wii, it will let us play for about 2 minutes, then give us a message that reads, "disc cannot be read, please refer to wii ooperations manual." I ordered the wii...

Check to see if there are any scratches on the disc. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating "Disc Read Error" or something to that effect. With some scratched discs, the data cannot be read and the game console may not even recognize the discs at all, giving you error messages etc. Best remedy for starters, is to try clean the discs and make sure there are no smudges or dirt marks left on the play-side of the discs. If there are any scratches on the discs, they will need repairing.

Most Game Discs, DVD's and CD's can be fixed quite easily back to "As Good As New Condition". Some home remedies or cheap repair kits may help with some light marks or very light scratches on some discs, but a professional disc repair service is usually required to repair any discs with anything more than very light scratches.

For further help on disc repairs, visit:

www.discREPAIR.ie Get Scratched Discs Repaired Back to "As Good As New Condition".

Check the "More Info" & "FAQ" Sections for further details on game disc repairs and related matters.

If you tried some home remedies and they have not worked, try sending the disc off for repair. Contact the site above for advice on repair and shipping.

Hope this Helps!!!

Navigation not working get disk reading error message upon starting car and every few minutes afterward

Check for a scratched or dirty Navi DVD disc. Clean or have the scratches polish out at your local game store. Video game stores usually have a disc repair machine that polishes out scratches.
Note: In some cases the Navi unit can cause rotational scratches on the DVD. If this is the case than the Navi unit will have to be replaced.

The game i have is scratched it only work for one nazi map and when i try to play career it ses disc unreadable what do i do

You will need to either repair the disc using a repair kit, find a game shop that repairs disc, or purchase a new copy of the game. You are getting a message saying that the disc is unreadable because the scratches prevent the laser from reading the data.

Disk read error

The 'Disc Read Error' error message, 'Please Insert a Playstation 2 Formatted Disc' error message, or the 'No Data' error message is an indicator by your system that the console is having difficulty reading the game disc. This could be for many reasons; usually this is because the game disc is damaged or unreadable. However, in some situations, this can be a sign of a more serious issue with your Sony PlayStation 2. Try all of the steps listed below to troubleshoot the error:

Check the game disc.

1. If there are any noticeable scratches or smudges on the surface of the game disc, try to clean them off by using a non-abrasive cotton cloth.
Note: Do not rub hard and do not rub in a circular motion as this could further damage the game disc.
2. If there aren’t any noticeable scratches or smudges on the surface of the game disc, try using that game disc in another PlayStation 2.

* If the game disc works in another system, this is an indicator that your PlayStation 2 may be damaged. For information on getting your system repaired or replaced, you will want to contact Sony directly for assistance at 1-800-345-SONY.
* If the game disc does not work in another system, this is a good indicator that the disc is damaged or defective. To acquire a replacement game disc, you will want to refer to your manual for warranty information specific to your product.

Some Playstation systems, especially the older models, have trouble reading some newly manufactured Playstation 2 game disks. Sony recommends using their Auto Diagnosis tool (http://www.us.playstation.com/support/ps2/hardwaresystem/default.html) to resolve this issue.

Call of duty 4 modern warfare disc plays in single player mode, but system stops and says disc unreadable clean disc with cloth then restart the system. i did that still doesn't work

I had a game that was scratched and didn't work so I found the softest fingernail buffer thing my sister had. Take it and make sure it feels like the face of a id card, not ruff at all , make sure to hold it against the disc so the middle of the nail file(no-edges) is the only thing touching, buff the disc vertically until scratches are less visible, clean of any dust and it should work. Or you can pay for a disk tool or service. Do not use this on blue-ray discs it will erase media.

Turned on your Xbox 360 console one day and and when you try to play your game you got the message "This disc is unreadable" OR "Unplayable disc".....??
First determine whether it's a fault with the disc or not, by having a look on the disc itself & make sure it's not scratched and there are no flaws even on it, and try other game discs on your Xbox 360 console .
If your disc is scratched or have flaws try putting other discs in your Xbox 360 console just to make sure it's the disc not the actual console causing the error, If other disc are working fine, refer to the scratched discs page on our website to know what are the steps you have to follow to get it sorted out.
If the disc is not scratched and doesn't have any flaws on it, cleaning the disc and trying it once more may solve the issue, if that doesn't work try to check it by putting other discs in your Xbox 360 console, if they all work that would be definitely a fault with the disc itself and in a case like this you have the right to exchange it from the retailer you bought it from as it's not scratched.
In all cases if other game discs are giving you the same error message "This disc is unreadable" OR "Unplayable disc" you need then to contact Xbox 360 customer support to send your console to get repaired or exchanged.
