Question about Dell OptiPlex GX280 PC Desktop

Dell Gx280 won't connect to internet - in Device Mgr in Other devices, all 4 are yellow ?; cable and signal are good, just no connection Can't download any drivers if can't connect!

Try using another computer that can go online and download NETWORK DRIVER then save it to a flash drive and transfer it to your optiplex. type this in the search box, R132254.EXE this will help you connect to the internet..

if you open the case there are things called capacitors little cylinders on the mainboard with x shape or k shape on the top sometimes they will blow if the tops are not flat they will need replacing.

Dell n4010 wont connect to internet


Check ALL cables and reseat, try a Ethernet cable connected directly to the ISP modem. If you can connect with a cable, reboot the Wireless device. If no, contact your ISP to verify a signal, it may be a outside equipment issue. Unplug everything remove batteries when applicable, start at the ISP modem, allow the self test with the modem and wireless device. Reboot the laptop, Is your SSID in the Available Wireless Networks?

Ethernet cable is unplugged


you will have to open up your network connections

click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled

If you are trying to connect through a modem/router you it should have come with a disk then
you might have to connect the usb lead to your modem to get a connection then

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question / exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click install drivers

the driver might be on the disc supplied by your ISP internet service provider
or the motherboard disc

click start type cmd press enter you will be in DOS mode

type in ipconfig press enter

you will see all o fyour internet connection details type in your default gateway adress into your internet search should read something like 10.0.0.138

Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in bios restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to

press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys navigate to integrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press enter make sure its enabledimake sure its enabledPci device arrows key scroll to nstalled.

Flashing yellow light from start button.


  • Ensure that the voltage selection switch is set to match the AC power at your location (if applicable).
  • Ensure that the processor power cable is securely connected to the system board.
Eliminate interference - Some possible causes of interference are:
  • Power, keyboard, and mouse extension cables
  • Too many devices on a power strip
  • Multiple power strips connected to the same electrical outlet

Can't connect to internet with cable or wifi


Other devices with a yellow indicator means two things:

1. Other Device is an unknown device to the computer - if you know which device it is and have a driver or cd for it, set it up

2. The yellow indicator means the device is not working properly.

You should remove the device and then select the add hardware section this will restart the process of adding the device where you can specify the device, manufacturer and driver.

You can check the other properly loaded devices to see which one you are missing. For example if there is no network card specified, it may be the one listed in other devices.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX280 That won't connect to the internet. I plugged in the RJ45 connector into the soccet in the back of the computer and there is a yellow light right next to the plug that lights...


try uninstalling the device in DEVICE MANAGER-then shut down the pc and unplug it for 10 sec. then reboot and windows shoul see it and reinstall drivers automatically and configure it

I can't connect my dell dimension 2400 pc dt to the internet, it says that it is reading the connection but it won't connect


Check it in the Device MGR see if it is working ok then update driver or completely uninstall it and Restart and it will find and reinstall it ! If you have the dell disk put the driver disk in and reinstall it from disk. Hope this helps!

Ethernet does't work


The yellow signs indicate the device driver is bad. Right click on the device and click on update driver...that should do it..if you have any questions let me know.

No connectivity to internet with ethernet controller.


there is a software called driver genius which works great for all drivers i had issues with, considering that its a out of date pc you may want to try that software. it costs but theres also a trial. here is the link from dell for the drivers. its a broadcom nic card and i have this exact setup at work in our shipping department so these will work

My Optiplex GX280 just stopped connecting to the internet.


try buying a cheap ethernet card so if it isnt that, that you dont wast any money. but remember when you do it remember to unplug all the cable from the computer.
