I have a SimpleTech 250GB. I want to know how to delete all files/prograns that I have saved. I believe that I saved files and programs that I did not mean to and now the indication is that there i

It could be that it is mapped to a drive letter that is already in use. Under device manager, (right click my computer and select manage then click on disk management) If you see the device in there then you can right click on the bar graph representation of the disk and select to change drive letter and paths. This will allow you to remove the conflict and have it show up again.

Not enough memory to run time machine

If you do not have enough hard drive space to perform a time machine backup then you will need to either get a bigger external hard drive or delete files that you do not need.

I've met space limit for my SimpleTech external drive even though my internal drive still has space and both are 250 GB. Are there SimpleTech programs taking up space and if so how much of that 250 GB...

Your internal drive is different than your external drive. If you put more files onto your SimpleTech drive, then that one is going to fill up faster. The best thing to do would be to go through your SimpleTech drive and delete anything that you don't need. I don't remember my SimpleTech drive coming with any software on the drive, but if it did, it didn't take up much space.

Share/files deleted from my simple share nas device.

You may use data recovery software to see if you can rescue the files. It may unable to recover all the files, but at least most of them.

SimpleTech 250GB External Hard Drive can not be accessed

Hi Blakelynefit;

All my not be lost. You've a lot of really great freeware options for file recovery if you're running Windows. Notable apps include Undelete Plus , PC Inspector File Recovery , and Restoration. Undelete Plus is the most user-friendly option of the bunch, with advanced filtering options that make it easy to find your needle of a file among the haystack of deleted garbage, but in my tests I found both Restoration and PC Inspector File Recovery to be more effective at recovering files. (Of course, your mileage may vary.) As an added bonus, the bare bones Restoration is portable, which makes it an excellent addition to a thumb drive or external SimpleTech 250GB Drive.
UPDATE: Per several readers advice, you may also want to check out Recuva another freeware Windows file recovery tool.

Good Luck,

Mark
