Question about Garmin GPS
If you have a Nuvi try this ...press the Volume Icon.... is it muted there? If Not on bottom of screen you will see FM Trans..... press it make sure that there is NO Checkmark in FM Transmitter, you only need a check there if you use the radio as a speaker

If you are using xp
Go to control panel
Click on sounds and audio devices
click on voice
See voice playback?
click on volume make sure there is not a check mark in mute under microphone
Do the same for voice recording
and check the volume levels on both
