Want to run jedi academy on XP running on VMware. Is this possible? if not whats the best alternative?

running video games on VMware will be very limited to games that require very low end graphics processing capabilities. Jedi academy is probably graphics intensive. You see, when running on VMware the hardware capabilities are virtualized and are usually significantly lower than the capabilites of your actual hardware in your system. What operating system are you using?

Shuts down unexpectingly when running game programs

Is the Laptop Overheating? During intense game play your Laptop will Overheat if it's not getting sufficient air flow. Try cleaning the Fan, vents, heatsing with Compressed Air, Improve air flow through the Laptop, a Laptop Cooler is a option. Try shutting down unnecessary processes, I use freeware RAZER GAME BOOSTER, you configure what you want to shut down: http://www.razerzone.com/gamebooster Remember, Your machine usually shuts down for a good reason, it's trying to protect vital components. Overheating will fry the CPU, Graphics Adapter, etc.

My ati radeon graphics card cuts out after about 20 minutes of intensive graphic gameplay use. this is not 'hard' graphics such as wow but just with use on facebook games and yet it will run all day w

Do you have a system utility that will let you check the temperature of your graphics card and your CPU? If you do, check if the temperature is rising significantly while you play. (For a 32-bit Windows OS, a free option is SIW (Software information for Windows available here: www.gtopala.com/ )

The next question is which model card do you have? Does it have a fan? Check if your fan is running properly. (For some computer cases, you can add a slot cooling fan next to the video card or an extra side fan to bring down the temperature enough to play Facebook games.)

Next check that your power supply is not getting overloaded. Some power supplies are labeled with their maximum peak output wattage. So if your video card demands extra power when doing intensive gaming, the power supply may not keep up.

If there is a fan on the ATI card that is not spinning, then you probably should replace it. It's possible to remove the fan from the card and then peel off the seal. Then add a drop of a machine oil that has few contaminants. (I use sewing machine oil or fishing reel oil.) Then replace the thermal compound and reattch the fan to the card. However, I tend not to trust this fix to last. There are replacement VGA card fans but finding one to fit your card can be hard.

I hope this helps.

What is ati hd 4250 graphics and can i play all games using this graphics

Primer:

The AMD ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4250 is;

1) A mobile design of GPU. Mobile meaning being made for Laptops.
2) GPU = Graphics Processing Unit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

The GPU is essentially the 'Graphics Engine'
This GPU is used for Integrated Graphics.
Integrated also means OnBoard.
ON the motherBOARD.

This GPU is a chip soldered to the motherboard. There is no upgrading it as you would for a desktop computer.
(As in changing to a better Graphics Card)

Integrated graphics borrows from the System's resources.
The system resources are the Processor, and Ram Memory.
Anything that borrows from the system resources will slow the computer down, as far as the Operating System is concerned, and the program that is being run.

In this case referring to playing a game, if the game is intensive it will require a lot of the 'graphics engine'.
The GPU
The GPU stated above will borrow from the system resources, and if an intense game is being played, the game may freeze, or you'll have low frame rates, and/or poor graphics quality.

A lot to absorb, I know. Wanted you to have the facts.
Short answer?
NO.

You will be able to play a lot of the games out there, but not the new intense one's.
It's not a gamer laptop with that GPU being used.

[The GPU is an AMD ATI RV620

My sony VAIO laptop keeps making a clicking, rattling like sound and i want to kow how to stop it. It started happening because i left my laptop on a couch for an extended period of time. I read in forums...

sounds like the fan in your laptop is failing or is damaged, when you run graphic intensive applications and the fan turns on is that then you hear the noise if so it is your fan and you should see about getting it replaced because the components in your laptop will over heat and stop working.

Mouse freezes up only while I am playing a game

It's not really a gaming laptop the freezes are probably due to the fact that the graphics are struggling try turning the settings of the game down a tad see if it stops freezing.Games weren't really meant for laptops unless they are not graphics intensive.

Video card

Notebook computers unless made specifically for gaming aren't able to play the graphic intense games like gears of war and games that are graphic intense, I run an sli machine with dual graphics cards, ans still cannot play on the highest graphics settings on some machines, the new motherboards are runnong 3 an 4 video cards for gaming rigs. Most notebooks run shared graphics memory and don't have a seperate card for graphics, look at the alienware notebooks, and you will see what I am talking about, unless you have a 'Gaming laptop" custom job, playing the latest games is out for most normal laptops.

It would seem in my opinion from the information you gave, that your processor of graphics processor is overheating and shutting down the laptop. Possible the cooling fan is not operating correctly. Do you hear your cooling fan running at all?

Hope that helps.
