Check to see if your GFI has tripped. That heater should be on one. Or your breaker for the tank.

Does the water heater and furnance run on gas and electric?

If the units are in a RV then yes, they both may run on gas and DC (battery power). The furnace requires gas to provide heat and DC power to run the fan. A water heater may be gas or electric, but if gas, it requires gas to heat and DC power to ignite. If the water heater is electric it requires AC power to heat.

Should ele and gas work to gether onwater heate .dont now if we used water or gas.or bouth

Some RV water heaters are both gas and electric, depending on what hookup is available at campground.
Otherwise, water heaters are electric or gas.

Gas water heaters have a 3" to 4" round vent pipe located on top.
Electric water heaters have electric wire connected on top or side of heater, but no vent pipe.

You would need to buy a propane hot water heater. Unfortunately you can not convert an electric hot water hearter to propane.

I didn't want to use either an electric or gas hot water heater so I invested in a solar hot water heater for my home. Best thing that I ever did as far as saving money. Once it is paid off then the benefits are lower utility bills.

Good luck,

Marty

water heater is shorted, or the wires to it are shorted. or the breaker is bad. we use an ammeter on that breaker line (clamp....)
oops it is shorted, then inspect the line
the check current in to the heater, oops is shorted.
i have a DC amp clamp meter, that finds shorts. like magic.

Have you checked for additional switch, perhaps on rear of water heater on side of cover that wiring goes into for element. How far have you gone with it?

Electric heating not working

Make sure switch on water heater at back where electrical wire is attached is in the on position, as well as any breaker marked for water heater. Some RV's also share a connection at a switch by counter in kitchen that only allows either microwave, or water heater, not both at same time. Possible that ECO, Thermostat assy in behind black cover on outside may be faulty, but not very likely. If you verify that there is hydro to connection at back of tank, I would suspect element is faulty. Not uncommon to burn element out if it was on, before tank was full of water, or when tank was emptied for some reason.

Heating element

Is the water gas or electric? It could be both.So if it gas then the burner is inside the front cover. If it's a electric one then it would have two wires coming out of it.
