Hold the power button until it turns off, usually take 4-5 seconds. Otherwise pull the AC cord and the battery to do a hard reset.

I have compaq cq45 laptop & bsnl 3g modem. i am unable to connect www.ramsurvey.com please help me.

check your firewall settings. go to START > CONTROL PANEL > WINDOWS FIREWALL > RESTORE DEFAULTS then delete the temporary files in IE by going to the TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > DELETE under the browsing history > DELETE ALL then reboot the computer.

If it doesn't work go to the interface of your anti virus program and disable the firewall embedded in it then reboot.

Make sure that the setting are also set to auto:
START > CONTROL PANEL > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS tab > LAN SETTINGS > AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS is the only one checked.

Tip

To Reboot or recovery from CD/DVD problem with OS "Aser"

If you don't press the Alt+F10 key combination or use the recovery CDs, can you get into Windows? Boot with the recovery CDs in. When at the Acer logo during POST, press the F12 key. Then, select boot off CD or DVD. Alternatively, you can enter the BIOS by pressing the F2 key at the Acer logo and go to the Boot tab. There, you can set the CD/DVD drive as the first item in the boot order.
When turning your laptop on, before Windows starts booting, a splash screen appears first (usually with the logo of the manufacturer). Look on the splash screen (usually at the bottom) for a key (usually F10 or F11), assigned for System Recovery. Some manufacturer(s) (e.g. HP) place the recovery files to a hidden (mostly) partition of the hard drive, the others give a Recovery CD/DVD with the laptop.
or
  1. Press the start button from the start menu depending on your operating system(win 2000,xp)
  2. Press Ctrl+Alt+delete combination from the keyboard.
  3. If you have a power button on your laptop keyboard,it could also be useful by pressing and hold it down for few seconds

N.B: "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" can exit you from usage and trigger a reboot
or Shutdown. Try and reboot using the operating system. Attempt to use the key combination that will allow you to exit from the operating system and restart the laptop. Be patient, as it may take some time if it has locked up. Hold down the power button. If the operating system's answer to the rebooting will not work, find and hold down the power button of the laptop. This should cause the device to shut itself off. You'll have to press the power button again to power it back on, completing the reboot.
Unplug from the wall and remove the battery. If restarting via the operating system and the power button do not work, unplug the laptop from the wall outlet, and remove the battery from the laptop. This will cause it to power off immediately. Allow time to reboot. Give the laptop time to cool down before you power it back on if you had to do this manually.A few seconds should do unless you have additional problems.

All the Best!

Could be a virus. Can you start up in safe mode? If so try that (F8 on reboot and choose safe mode). Once up in safe mode run a full virus scan.

I have an asus pc 1000hd that does this every now and then. I hold the power button down and the whole machine shuts off after a few seconds. Either that or you can take out the battery, wait a few seconds and then reinsert it

Laptop hp dv6000 will not recognize cd burner/dvd player

HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop PC
Did you 'turn off' the AUTOPLAY feature of the CD\DVD ? When the player "runs two times at startup", it is trying to find the program on the disc.2nd- Look in internet for HP dv6000 cd\dvd drive replacement.(If that is the ""exact match for the product"" you wrote about)
3rd.goto CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and look up cd\dvd and uninstall it. REBOOT, when your system comes back it will try to find the cd\dvd. If it does not, it is damaged (kaput!), must be replaced. If Windows finds the cd\dvd drive and reinstalls the drivers, but it does not work, then the heads are dirty or damaged. That Windows found the dvd\cd means that the circuit on the device works.

the alt key is used in combination with various other keys similar to fn key .theres no code as such ; its basically shortcut key.
for instance ctl,alt and delete all pressed at once acts similar to esc.it activates the task manager where you can close programs that arent responding or if you choose close windows,if you press and hold them it will activate soft reboot.
