One more question. Last one and this will help us determine the cause of the problem. Do you have a dull glow on the screen?

    eagle338 Nov 10, 2010

Ok. Try this. Take a flash light and flash it on the screen from a close distance in different angles. See if you can notice a faint image on the screen. Try this and let me know. You may have to try different angles and keeps changing the channels to make it more noticeable.

Its a confirmed backlight inverter board failure. Though you have the voltages going into the board there are so many solid state elctronics on it that can go bad. The flashlight confirms that the backlight is not coming on. Replace the backlight inverter board to resolve the problem.

    Sai.

Thanks for the accept. As for your query, the shut down is initiated by the protection circuitry due to an overload on one of the boards(usually on the power supply or the sustain boards). The first thing I would look for would be faulty capacitors that are puffed or cracked at the top. Even tiniest of the holes means that cap is malfunctioning.

Hi,

This sounds like a firmware issue, download the latest firmware from:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?tmplt=Funai&scy=US&slg=AEN&sct=LCD_EXTRA_LARGE_GT40_SU&cat=FLAT_TV_CA&session=20090907111310_76.182.116.248&grp=TV_GR&ctn=42PFL3704D/F7&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

The standby power supply resistors on the inverter board have changed values. You will replace resistors R1217, (820K 1/4 watt), R1218,(820K 1/4 watt) and R1219 (390K 1/4 watt). Please use the values just mentioned. Or you may have the inverter board replaced. Take this note to a TV repair Tech. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Hi:
The buzzing you hear is the inverter board trying to light the backlights, Check the inverter boards for puffy capacitors tops, There should be two of them on each inverter board..

My tv won't turn on

In this particular model the high voltage for the backlights are produced from the power supply. The power supply is weak and may need repaired or replaced. This is the first reason you have a set that will not come on. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

When turned on ,nothing comes up,no picture

there is a connection between the inverter and the powersupply. on this connector there should be a line that supplies 24 volts. if you are getting that 24 volts on a volt meter the you are most definatly looking at inveters. if you dont powersupply. just a warning if you have 24 volts and the inverter doesnt work you need a new lcd panel, which is not worth buying if you can find one

4 possible issues

1 bad inverter (won't step-up low voltage)
2 bad ccfl assembly (florescent lamps are dead)
3 faulty power supply (no 24 volts to the inverter)
4 lcd panel defective (very rare)

LCD tv issue

at error code is 12 and it is your 12-volt supply. Measure from the inverter to the power supply for 24 volts pins 1,2 and 3. If you don't have the 24 volts disconnect the inverters from the power supply and see if the volts come up. If the 24 volts come up replace the inverters. If the 24 volts are still not there replace the power supply. The volts have to be steady and not going up and down if they are replace the power supply.
But if the 24 volts are there with the inverters connected 1M03 pin 3 for 3.2 volts. If the 3.2 volts are not there replace the small signal board. The only way to get a manual is to find it on line or call the manufacture.
