Pull the refrig out and remove the lower panel . Check that the fan motor is working and no object is blocking the blade to keep it from turning . If your compressor is a top model , remove the top cover and check the fan motor and coils for dust coverage .

I have a ge externa refrigerator that does not cool on top shelves of the fridge or the freezer. it cools at the bottom just not the top. model # is ESS25KSTSS. Fan is workin fine and has freon. If anyone...

If the fan is working fine the next thing to check for is heavy frost on the back wall of the freezer section toward the middle to bottom area. If you have frost there you will need to remove the panel and with ref. off use a hair dryer to defrost the ice from the coils. After the ice is defrosted you will see a defrost heater at the bottom of the evaporator coils. This will be your problem Part number 51x10101 at about 64.00 or less. Hope this helps and good luck. GE top freezer refrigerator fan rattles constantly

It is mounted properly, it is probably a bad bearing in the fan motor and/or the blade is loose on the shaft. Replace the motor.
Good Luck,

I am having a problem with water in the bottom of my 11 year old whirlpool refrigerator, under crisper drawers. I understand this could be a blocked defrost drainage line. How do I access the drain line?...

There should be four screws. Two in front on each side.
The two in the back or at the fan cover. in center. take teem out. slide the fan cover up and out. now you can take out the bottom. The drain is in the middle at the back. HOPES THIS HELPS

GE Top Freezer Fridge - Freezer Buzzing

If you remove the half moon cap, and two 1/4" screws you can remove the cover and get to the fan. The fan motor shaft is mostly wobbling around making the buzzing sound.

Whisling noise coming out of inside the refrigerator. Louder when freezer door is open. maybe ice maker area?

The whistling is caused by the air circulating fan located just behind the light. It is easily accessed by removing the light cover and the two small hex screws above the light. To stop the whistling I simply turned the freezer off and pulled the fan cover out slightly to reveal the fan blades. I then pushed the blades down, toward the bottom of the until the blades stopped and i could feel the shaft slightly protruding from the top of the blades. Repositioning the blade has stopped the incessant whistling. Hope this helps!
