TOSHIBA SATELLITE P35-S611 W/GLOSSY SCREEN. Screen looks fine in all respects but the letters shimmy. Small letters are impossible to read. I tried two screens and both did the same. This just started today. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Jim Jackson

I tried you solution and it did nothing at all. Looking closer it looks as if the shimmering is hirizontal lines (not vertical.

Why would the same thing happen to two different screens. The laptop I tried them on is on now and the picture is fine???

Well I would think, in this case your screen and or Inverter are on the way out :(.. this is what will happen after a while, it will get gradually worse and worse until it fails completely.
Screen replacement and Inverters are easy to replace very fiddly, but pretty easy with the right instructions one should have no problem replacing these items. usually the replacement parts can be obtained from say Ebay or the like. Accordingly i have given you links below that show you how to disassemble and repair your unit.

Below is your user manual, above the disassembly how to's

Hello.

If you replaced the screen display on the laptop, or tried an external monitor, with the same results, then your video card or display driver could be problematic or another component other than the display.

Access the Device Manager. Find your display, Right-click and update the driver.

It's also possible that malware or a virus could be causing this problem. Try Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.com ). It's a free malware program. Download, install, update and run and remove any malware.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Is this problem on only on web pages or all aspect of windows.

To increase font on web page, Press and hold control button (ctrl) on your keyboard, then press plus (+) constantly and your web page letters should increase. (Ctrl +)

To reduce if its too large, press ctlt then minus (-).

Good luck.

Satellite P35-S611 has trouble charging

If you have to wiggle the power cord it is most likely the DC jack on the motherboard. It is usually the center pin in the the jack that breaks the solder point and the small tension band inside the jack housing weakens.

I have a toshiba p35 s611 with the os changed from xp home to xp pro. Now the media player plays full screen and will not close. Only Alt+F4 will close it. I have the ATI's Mobility Radeon 9000 drivers...

Look in device manager to see which drivers you need. The ATI drivers are kind of picky so look in device manager to get the exact hardware names that are marked with yellow or red. With the upgrade you lost some drivers and will have to get them on the web with the names listed in device manager

Screen problem.

Does your LCD look like this or similiar? (below) If it does, there should be a female plug similiar to the picture also below.
Hook smaller end of cable to your laptop, the other end to your external monitor. Turn on your laptop. If the vertical lines are not present then its probably your LCD, which will more than likely have to be replaced. If lines are present, then like tom19511 said it may be the video drivers. I've had this same problem with my Toshiba Satellite p35 5 times already. Toshiba had to replace my LCD each time. LCD's are more expensive than an inverter. Good luck, I hope you get it fixed.
