  4. Enter your name as you want it to appear in sent messages.
  5. Enter your Gmail address (including '@gmail.com') in the E-mail Address field.

  14. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the Outgoing Server field, and check Outgoing server requires authentication.
  15. Select Outgoing Server Settings.
  16. Make sure 'Use different user name for outgoing server' is NOT checked.
  17. Make sure 'Require SSL Connection' IS checked.
  18. Select Done.
  19. Select Next.
  20. You can change how much mail is downloaded to the phone. Adjust these preferences if desired, then select Next.
  21. Select how often you want the device to automatically check for new messages, and select Next.
  22. Select Finish.

From a PC go into your gmail and go to the settings page. On the POP3/IMAP tab turn on (enable) IMAP. There will be a few links with instructions on how to set it up, if there isn't one for your phone just read through the Outlook express instructions and right down the addresses and port numbers that it indicates. In Messaging on your phone remove any Gmail accounts you have previously set up. Create a new IMAP account for GMail and configure it using the addresses and ports you got from the instructions on the GMail site.

Using IMAP will be a lot more reliable on your phone and if you set it up properly should work over GPRS. It will also be a lot faster as it only downloads the headers for your messages until you decide to read a message. It will also sink read status and deleted emails with your GMail account unlike POP3.

Hello there.

I too cannot check gmail using Opera, but Firefox works great. I would try installing Firefox from here . If you cannot install Firefox on the smart device, then what we can do is configure Windows Mobile 6 to connect to gmail over 'IMAP'.

As per the page on here please try the following steps:

To configure IMAP for your Windows Mobile 6 device, just follow these steps:

  1. Enable IMAP in your Gmail account settings.
  2. Open the Start menu and select 'Programs' > 'Messaging' > 'New E-mail Account.'
  3. Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') in the E-mail Address field.
  4. Uncheck the box to get settings automatically from the Internet and select 'Next.'
  5. Select 'Internet e-mail' as your email provider in the drop-down menu.
  6. Enter your name as you want it to appear in sent emails.
  7. Enter a descriptive name for the email account and select 'Next.'
  8. Enter 'imap.gmail.com' in the Incoming Mail Server field.
  9. Select 'IMAP4' as the Account type from the drop-down menu and select 'Next.'
  10. Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') and password.
  11. Select 'Next.'
  12. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server field.
  13. Make sure that the 'Outgoing server requires authentication' box is checked.
  14. Select the 'Advanced Server Settings' link.
  15. Make sure that the 'Require SSL' box is checked for both incoming and outgoing emails.
  16. Select 'The Internet' as the network connection from the drop-down menu.
  17. Select 'Done' and then 'Next.'
  18. Select how often you want your phone to send/receive emails from the drop-down menu.
  19. For more download options, select the 'Review all download settings' link.
  20. Select 'Finish.'
This will configure WM6 to securely, download and send your email, instead of checking it through the web browser.

Hope this helps.

How do i sync my htc hd7 phone (windows mobile) with outlook xp

I have Outlook 2010 client on my PC. My ISP mail account is forwarded to Outlook via POP3 mail account. I also have a gmail account to which I forward all mail to from my ISP mail address. My gmail calendar is bi-directionally synchronised to my Outlook calendar using 'Google Calendar Sync' and likewise my gmail contacts are bi-directionally synchronised to my Outlook contacts using 'Go Contact Sync'. then it was a simple matter on my Windows Phone 7 to create a Google mail account to my gmail account. I can create contacts, calendar entries in either Outlook, Gmail or my phone and they are all sync'd with each other. 'Google Calendar Sync' and 'Go Contact Sync'' are free downloads.

I am unable to setup my email wizard in my samsung corby

Standard instructions for email inbox setup:

i have finished my corby pro email settings & i can send and recieve emails. the problem with only recieving & not able to send is the confusion between port numbers. in secure connection box three options available ' off ', ' SSL ', ' TLS '. use only SSL or TLS because the port numbers for SSL & TLS differs. just try this & you will be able to send and recieve emails.

                                                    SMTP port - 465

                                                    POP3 port - 995

Enable POP in Gmail. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.Configure your client to match the settings below:Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS or SSL:smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
Port for SSL: 465Account Name:your full email address (including @gmail.com or@your_domain.com)Email Address:your email address (username@gmail.com orusername@your_domain.com)Password:your Gmail password

Unless you're using recent mode to download mail to multiple clients, make sure you've opted not to leave messages on the server. Your Gmail settings determine whether or not messages stay on the server, so this setting in your client won't affect how Gmail handles your mail.

Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.

Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.

You're now ready to use POP with your Gmail address.

Using Gmail as your Universal Inbox

Nowadays most people have more than one email account. If one of yours is a Gmail account, you can use it as your primary inbox to check all your POP3 accounts in your Gmail browser window. But do remember that you can check only other POP3 accounts only. You won’t be able to check Yahoo mail, Windows Live Hotmail, or other such web mail accounts. Also, not all POP3 servers work with Gmail.
Here is what you need to do. Open your Gmail account and click Settings-Accounts. In the ‘Get mail from other accounts‘ section, click Add another mail account. Enter the email address of the account you want to add, and click Next Step.
Enter your username, password and POP3 server. If you want to continue to access the account through a mail client or through the ISP’s own Web interface, in addition to picking up and sending mail in your Gmail account, check Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server. This allows you to read the mail in Gmail, but the mail will remain on the ISP’s server so that you can download it with your standard mail program or read it through the account’s own Web interface. On the other hand, if you plan on accessing the mail for the address only through your Gmail account, you can leave the box unchecked.
Next, check Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail to keep mail snoops at bay. In some instances a POP3 account may not work with an SSL connection: if that is the case, you will have to leave this box unchecked.
If you want all of your incoming messages from the account to carry a label, such as the name of the account, select Label incoming messages. In Gmail, a label works much as a folder does. You can view all mail that carries the same label by clicking the label. Gmail automatically creates a label for the address of the new account. You can select a different label or create a new one by choosing the appropriate entry from the drop-down list. Another option is to have messages bypass your inbox and go straight to your Gmail archive. This would be a good choice if you want to use Gmail primarily for searching through mail. When you’ve made all your selections, click Add Account.
You can compose mail in Gmail and have it appear to the recipient as if it were from the account you just added. When a message appears asking whether you want to create a custom From address, click Yes and follow the instructions.
Gmail will check your account, and any mail sent to either address will appear in your Gmail inbox. To stop Gmail from checking the mail, click Settings-Accounts and choose delete next to the account.

How to stop g-mail from fetching my e-mail?

If you have Gmail set up to fetch messages from another account, you will need to revise that setting.

To access your Gmail settings, go to your Gmail web page, click on the "options" icon (upper right corner of page), then select "Mail settings". Then on the "Account settings" page, select "Accounts and Import", then scroll down to "Check mail using POP3".

You should see a list of the other accounts from which Gmail is currently fetching messages. To stop message retrieval from another account, click on "delete". To modify message retrieval from an account click on "edit".

For more on setup and cancellation of Gmail fetching, see this help page:

Send or receive messages

Did you configure your HTC using a POP3 or IMAP account? If you do, you need to make sure that the following are correct:

1. Incoming Mail Server - pop.domain.com (i.e. pop.gmail.com)
2. Incoming Port - 110 or 993
3. Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.domain.com (i.e. smtp.gmail.com)
4. Outgoing Port - 25 or 2525 or 587 or 465

You need to contact your e-mail provider to see the correct settings and port number to use for the incoming and outgoing mail server.

You have to make sure to put your complete e-mail address in the user name field.

Have a great day!
