Question about Panasonic TX-26LXD1 26 in. LCD Television

Open Question

My Panasonic TV keeps turning on at 3am by itself every morning. It's not the cable box as I've switched it with the one from upstairs and the problem continues to persist. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Panasonic plasma TV model TH-42PD60U won't turn on

I had this problem in 2007 / 2008 here is what happened to me. Jan 09, 2008 - I also have brought the unit to the authorized Panasonic repair facility and the problem is a failure in the P-board which is the power supply board. The P-board needs to be replaced. The repair will cost $475 plus tax. $250 is for labor. The unit was nop more than two months out of warranty. This does not speak well for Panasonic. I have been researching the problem and it looks like this has happened to many of the Panasonic plasma TVs.
Jun 14, 2008 - As an update to my problem with the failed P board. Contacted Panasonic Service and talked to a customer service representative. I told them how I have purchased many Panasonic products and how unhappy I was with the failure of the product. They proposed paying the labor cost of $250 and I would pay for the part. I just hope it does not happen again.

Let me know fi you are handy and can replace circuit board in tv to guide you more OR local tv repairman will do the job.
Thanks.

3am is the freeview box update time it will do this every day at 3am the loud click you hear you should not hear it but it may be the update switch that turns the tv out of standby for the freeview to be updated its a different switch that turn this on and may be sticking.

Grundig TV turns itself on

Remove power for a day and see if the processor resets. It seems to be only due to the timer as the TV can be triggered only from the internal timer to power ON.Try and reset all the timer settings , switch power off completely and it must cancel all settings.

Hi Fiona
Somewhere along the line from the aerial there must be a signal splitter that feeds the upstair and downstair terminals.
Try to find that splitter and switch the output to see if the problem goes from up to downstair.
If it does switch then you know the problem is with the splitter block, and if it stays the same then the problem is with the cable and/or the connectors that run downstairs.
Also the reason you get a pixellated(snowy) picture is because of signal loss during the length of the cable you ran downstair.
If running a cable downstair becomes the best option to fix your problem , then you could buy a cheap 10db signal booster/r.f amplifier to correct the signal loss and a cable splitter to feed both tv`s
That booster would be installed upstair in your case(near the source of the signal to be amplified).
I could send you a small diagram if need be. Hope this will help and Merry Chrismas

Goodmans 15" LCD keeps switching itself on

I'm having the same problem with the same TV that I bought my daughter for Christmas.

I haven't tried this myself yet, but it is suggested on another website that the TV is switching on to look for software updates during the night. Apparently you can switch the auto-update feature off, which fixes the issue.

Might not be my exact TV

If you have No Channels at all, try your TV from a known good cable feed, (upstairs) or try using a VCR to check the TV's function  If it works upstairs, try entering the Menu, and make sure Cable is selected, it sounds like it may be on the TV or Antenae setting.  This setting is usually in the Channel Select or similar menu.  Change it to Cable and it may help.
