SOURCE: No light meter on Vivitar V3800N

It may be that the batteries that came with the camera are dead. Double check the way you have them installed, both cells should have the positive side up as they sit in the cap. It is best to handle button cell batteries on the round edges rather than the flat sides. The battery cap for your camera should have open slots on the sides so you can place the batteries in using those openings

Nikkormat 35mm SLR light meter not working!

1) Clean the battery contacts and put fresh battery.
2) Open the top cover and clean the meter switch ( located and the wind cam )
3) Meter needle maybe stuck at the rest position. Remove the stopper and replace or clean.
4) If none of these help, check the meter cells and resistor band under the shutter dial behind the lens mount ( hard to do.)

Just bought a 2001 vs800 intruder, got it home and will not start

If you're getting no lights then it is either the ignition switch or the battery is not making connection. Check the battery with a multi-meter. Check the fusebox with a multi-meter, any power to any fuses there with key on?

If there is supposed to be one in the camera, you may need to install/replace a battery.

Vivitar v3800N battery holder missing

rcv7,

this camera has at least two different names that i know of (phoenix, vivitar ) .The battery covers are the same.
most camera repair shops have repair manuals with part numbers from the manufacturer. the only other way is to take a cover to a machine shop and have them make some from aluminum. we had this done for the pentax spotmatic when parts were no longer available.

I contacted Sakar the Company that bought out VIVITAR and they said to call back in Febraury as they will begin manufacuting then and will ship out a new microscope free of charge to me then.. http://www.sakar.com/

Inside the US: 877 397 8200
Outsite the US: 732 476 5098
I also Emailed them and so far have had no reply. I hope they honor what they said as VIVITAR is no longer so if not I am stuck with a meaningless product.

Film = no light meter

jackson rook,

the speed of the film may be to high if your camera has dx coding contacts in the film chamber. otherwise---- film in camera or not it has no effect on meter operation. move the advance lever to the right slightly and push down on the shutter release button slightly to turn meter on.
