Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

1 Answer

Media import wizard won't work any more

On XP. It was all working fine, both my fuji finepix camera and my sony Handycam were fine - I would plug either one in and up would come the box asking what I wanted to do and I would choose to import them. Then one day it stopped working - I tried a restore but nothing worked. So I have checked the registry for something-or-other I found on the net and thats all ok, so I tried to reinstall them and now neither of them will install onto the pc, so I'm assuming thats why the import wizard doesn't come up. Ulead detects the camera. & handycam software detects the camcorder. but neither save in the way that I need them to! Its driving me mad! Have tried both USB ports, separate leads, nothing. Please help!

Have finepix 5200. New Dell Home Premium WIN 7. Installed software, updated drivers. Cannot import photos, either thru USB port or card reader.Worked fine on old computer (XP). Use Kasperski AV 2010.

Not sure with WIN7 but, when connected and camera on, can you go to My computer and see the camera or an extra drive ?

If so click on and try and open the drive, if you're still cooking on gas try copy/past to a folder on you pc.

Fuji finepix 2800

You do not need 'Drivers' for a camera to be read in a Windows computer
With the Camera plugged in to the computer you shouild see the Camera/Scanner Wizard asking what to do work from there.
If you are still in difficult invest in a USB Card reader.

Patch, fuji finepix for use with vista. Is there one available to enable me to download from my Fuji S5600

You should not any 'patch'
The Fuji Software may not work with vista if that is what you are referring to.Here are two suggestions,
If it is the software you want then do this
Go to Start/programs/accessories/system tools/compatibility Wizard and set it to Windows XP.
or
Remove the software- the computer does not need it - it will see the camera as mother drive ask put up the Camera/Scanner Wizard
and ask what you want to do.
If it is image edit software you want then Google's Picasa is a good start, for FREE but there are many other more competent FREE one to be had too.

The AutoPlay Wizard does not launch when I connect my camera

Description When I connect my FinePix camera to my computer, the AutoPlay Wizard does not launch as shown in the manual. I have Windows XP and I have installed the FinePix Viewer software. Cause AutoPlay is a Windows XP feature. The AutoPlay setting may not be working properly in your Operating system. This situation is not the result of a faulty camera or FinePix Viewer software. Solution We suggest running the Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard utility which is available as a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. The AutoPlay Repair Wizard scans your computer devices to find defective AutoPlay settings, and attempts to fix those it finds. To download this utility, please go to the Microsoft Download Center and enter "AutoPlay" in the Keyword box.
