I'm having the same problem with the lcd221sd, only i've had it for a couple of months.

all was working fine and then yesterday the little black power box was making a strange noise, i turned the tv off, and then couldn't get it back on again.

the red light is on, but pushing the power button on the tv or remote does nothing.

    please help!

Just bought one cheap same problem, opened it up and on the main board the capacitors have blown. You can tell as they are normally flat on top, blown capacitors have a rounded top like a muffin i guess. These are easily replaceable from any electrical store

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

I bought my son a 19" philips tv model # 19pfl340d/27.in order to turn tv on it must be unplugged for 10-15 minutes. The first one I bought did the same thing and I returned it.this one is exactly the...

The remote control will not operate the TV when the TV is in the OFF mode (No LED lit on front bezel). To change the mode from OFF to STANDBY or ON, press the POWER button on the side of the TV. Once the POWER button is pressed, the LED will change to either red to indicate STANDBY or green to indicate ON, whichever mode the TV was in prior to being turned off with the TV POWER button.

By pressing the POWER button on the side of the TV, the mode will toggle from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is red, the TV is in STANDBY mode and will need to be turned on using the remote control. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is green, the TV is ON.

Can't get my Panasonic LCD out of Standby.

I only have two solutions. Either, turn the tv on from the tv. or try checking the tv connection. If that doesnt work maybe the remote is out of battery.

AKAI 32" LCD HDTV WILL NOT TURN ON

The only solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

Red led stays on after turning off.

Aren't you talking about the standby led? cause that is perfectly normal... when it's on it means you can turn the TV on by remote, usualy it goes away when you turn the TV off manualy by pressing the OFF button on the set, but is this really your problem?
