Question about LG Washing Machines

Open Question

Hi. Have a wd-12392TD Direct Drive LG washing machine. When I starts working and drum begins to rotate it seems it's working fine but as the load inceases (after some water added to the drum) it seems that it's too difficult for the motor to work, it sounds as if there are loosey parts inside ( sounds a bit like abag full of nails or nuts hitting each other). I've tried to replace the motor->didn't help. I've opened the back, and started a cotton cycle, after few min' when it got 'stucked' using a tool I helped the rotor to cycle. It doesn't allways get stucked but as too often. Any ideas why ??

SOURCE: Drum will not rotate

im confused as to why you think no drum rotation would be caused by bearings. typically worn bearings would cause noisy spin. only if bearings were completely seized would that cause no drum rotation. can you rotate drum by hand? if so bearings are not seized. can you hear motor rotate when you select spin? if not, then likely cause is motor brushes. do these simple tests and get back to me if you want. and bearings are quite difficult to replace on this machine

SOURCE: LG Direct Drive WM-16220FD loud vibration during spin cycle

the pump hose is knocking if you can unplug the machine and tilt the machine on its back you can see the hose get a cable tie big one you can cable tie it down that would stop it from moving that's why its knocking if the pump is not on that side then your suspension leg is on its way out meaning you will have to call your local second hand shop to have a look but be for you do have a loo your self save money

Have you checked to see that the waste is not blocked? THis is very common on these machines and causes the pressure switch not to operate, making the machine fail to spin or spin with water in the drum, causing unbalance symptoms.
This is extremely common on Hotpoint machines without a accessible filter. The filter is in the rubber waste pipe under the drum and needs to be removed to be cleaned out. When iti s blocked it also blocks the chamber that operates the pressure switch.

SOURCE: My Hotpoint Aquarius WF210 washing machine drum is not rotating

I think the belt has come off or has been damaged.

To open the machine slide out the machine. On the back panel lower 1/3 you will see a plastic panel remove the screws and the panel will come away. Inside you will see the belt. I suspect you will need to reattach the belt of remove it and buy a replacement.

Drum starts to move then stops then Le appears and a slight hissing noise from direct drive motor. Looks like intemittant fault

The LE error message means "locked motor error" which means the control is not seeing the motor running.

The problem can be caused by a broken wire or loose connection but the most likely cause of the problem is a bad hall sensor.

The sensor can be accessed by removing the rear panel and the rotor assembly. See the image below for help with this. Remember to unplug the washer first.

Make sure the rotor and drum rotate. Anything blocking the tub rotation might trigger an LE code.

New washer, seems to work fine. I just question the water filling sequence at start of a wash. The water valve opens in 1 sec spurts about 6 times when drum is rotating in one direction. On 7th time it...

Every few months, new things are done to improve washing methods. If washing machine is washing clothing cleanly, and no apparant fault code comes up, then it is how the controller is programmed and meant to be.

LG WD(M)- 16220FD Error LE

the problem lies on the speed sensors on the main direct drive motor (the connection with the thin cables) but the problem is that it is not a seperately replaceable item and comes complete with the main stator coil unit this is very pricey at over £120+vat trade price then an engineer will charge his fitting fee on top of this. maybe worthwile looking at buying a new machine

LG direct drive washing machine WM-16220FD

This is a fun task. Not sure of this model number, whether it has a heater or not, if it does you can remove the heater and attempt to get out whatever it is out through there. The other way is to remove the bottom bellows, drain out the water through the drain trap first, this will give you a bit of access. The easiet way is to take the front panel off, otherwise you would have to tip the unit back, securing it, and trying to access it that way.

good luck.

Wm noisy

drum bearings, check and investigate, remove drive belt and then rotate, if still noisy then yes its the drum bearings, if the noise stops when the belt removed the motor bearings are faulty costly repair on most models, sorry oh there is also the possibility there is something lodged within the drum cavity between the lining and the drum casing

Removing the bearings from my direct drive washing machine

If you're talking about the rear drum support bearing, they are usually not removable. They are molded into the plastic tub shell. When the bearings go bad you generally have to replace the entire back shell of the wash tub.
