SOURCE: I need to replace the ballast on my GDM 12 freezer

The ballast is located on the bottom inside wall where the compressor is located. Its usaually mounted, and can be easily removed and replaced. The ballast is rectangular in shape and has a few wires protruding from each end. To replace simply dismount the bad ballast and clip the wires. Match the ballast to a new one, reattach the wires using wire nuts, and remount ballast.

Not sure what a GDM 35 is but if it has a ballast, take the back off and look for a module with wires coming and going.

Lights not working, and can't find the ballast location

The ballast is located down by the compressor if you take off the cover the ventilation slats. Then in the very center where there is a plug from the compressor plugged into the side of the center support as a cover on the front of that open the cover and inside you'll find The ballast.

Where is the starter location for lighting

Believe me Joe I'm right there with you I work on this stuff every day and I am so stressed also. Is this the cool with the sliding doors and the compressor on the bottom? If you take off the ventilation slat cover there is a small cover right in the center the compressor plugs into that cover pull the cover off of that and the ballast is inside there.

True GDM-33 refrigerator icing up around the condenser then defrosts leaking water all over the floor.

It could possibly be an issue with the thermostat not shutting off. I would set it at it's setting to see if it shuts off. If not replace the thermostat. Also check to see if the evaporator fans are running.

A starter may be located in the top area inside the cooler. Not all true coolers have starters. Check the connections where the light pins slide into. Also may need new ballast.

Ballast location?

the ballast is right in the middle. you should see an electrical cord. open the 2 screws from the ballast cover. then unscrew the top and bottom screw from the ballast. the ballast should come off. cut the wires closer to the ballast, so that you can identify the wire with the new ballast, which will have the same color scheme.
