Question about Systemax Venture PC Desktop

Computer rebooting My pc has started rebooting at odd intervals. I may or may not be using it at the time. Also when I shut it down for the night and then re-start in the mornings it re-boots several times before reaching the desktop. I have run my antivirus scan and that comes up clean. I have also done the defrag thing. I have not installed any new programs. My anti-virus program is the CA security system. My pc has just gone out of it's 1 yr warrenty. Someone said it may be that my hard drive is failing?

More often than not a rebooting computer is a power problem. Either your power supply is failing or the voltage regulation circuitry on your motherboard is failing. The power supply is much easier and cheaper to replace, make sure you get a good one though, you don't want to skimp on a power supply. Get something with over 400 Watts and that feals heavy and solid, don't get something that feels light and flimsy.

You motherboard would be more difficult to replace and really only makes sense if you can get the exact same motherboard for replacement. Otherwise you would have to reinstall Windows and make sure all your things are compatible with the other motherboard.

FIRST of all I would consider upgrading all your device drivers, go to SystemMax's support page for you computer model and download and install all available drivers. A corrupted driver can cause Windows to lock up and reboot.

Gateway MT6840 unexpectedly shut down and wouldn't

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

How to reboot computer

hi
  • Decide what kind of reboot you are going to do. A soft reboot is performed the way you are “supposed” to do it. For a soft Windows reboot, go to the Start menu and select “Shut Down” or “Restart.” The computer will then shut itself down. Clicking “Restart” makes it boot up without further intervention from you.
  • Step 2 Perform a hard reboot by pushing the computer’s power button and holding it until the computer shuts down. Wait 45 seconds and restart the computer by pushing the power button again. You may have to start up in safe mode, but that also allows you the chance to restart properly or work on programs in a safer way. This method may cause you to lose data or mess up the operation of some of your programs. But it may be the only option if your computer's hard drive is frozen.
  • Step 3 Power down all of the computer's components. Shut off all of the peripherals you have attached to your computer, and disconnect the cables. Then, plug all of the peripherals back in, and restart your computer. This can often solve problems with your hard drive.
  • Step 4 Purchase and install a program such as Drive Reboot Restore PC 6.0 that streamlines the hard drive reboot process. These applications help prevent the problems that can develop after repeated computer use. They also ensure that your hard drive maintains the configuration you want each time you turn it on.
  • Step 5 Investigate what the problem may be with your hard drive. Because of its delicate nature, your hard drive can very easily be thrown off.

I shut my computer down at night, but can't get on Internet next

There is no reason to shut down either the router or modem. My router and modem has power 24/7 with no issues for many years. Just leave them powered.

If you are updating windows xp and it says installing updates when you are shutting down your computer, you should let it finish, even if it tales overnight. depenind on how many updates you have, better to go to the updates web site and do it from there. after they have installed then you should be able to do a restart on your computer and compleate. Any thing ells you are best off contacting MicroSoft

My computer reboots without warning at different intervals

this problem occurs if your computers cooling is not as its necessary to be.try useing it with an open cabinet and see if the problem persists. if the problem still persists remve ur CPU fan and place some heat sink fluid and place it back on the cpu. then all your problems should be gone.
use a good antivirus to check for any viruses before this(just in case)

Always use CRTL/ALT/DELETE to shut it down when something like that happens.
It damages the HDD if you do not shut it down correctly.
Unplug the power cable from the computer and let it sit over night. Plug it back in.
is your computer XP or Vista?
    please let me know.
    Thanks!

    Serious error

Try opening your computer and cleaning the fans around the CPU and the other fans in your system. Computers have a sensor that shut computers down when they get too hot. Clean all the dirt inside and you should see a little performance boost also.

When you start your laptop, press F8. You will get a menu (Normal boot, Reboot...). Choose Last good known configuration (something like that).

    Computer Still Shuts down

Try running a check Disc on the system drive go to start programs run and type in cmd once there type (chkdsk C:/x) exactly like that with the X say yes to the prompt that ask you if you want to dismount the volume, if it asks you if you want to run it the next time the system reboots say yes and reboot. It should start running before the computer logs on. Kick back and relax it takes between 2 and 3 hours to finish. If this doesn't work it might be a hardware issue.
