SOURCE: Hitachi 50V500 TV: has a red line that outlines faces or text

Such a god damn joke that Hitashi can sell such a lemon part and know about it. On top of that, not help at all getting the part fixed... I mean honestly? How is that even remotely legal?

SOURCE: Picture on plasma screen is very patchy

Hi, you either have a bad Y board or it may actually be adjustable.
Adjusting it would involve opening the back, Most Philips plasma sets use torx 10 screws and a few other sizes on the larger wall mount screws, You will have to lay the set face down on a soft quilt or cushions. Depending on the model some may require a few layers of back be removed. the model with the rear lights is one that requires major disassembly to get access to the Y board. The adjustments are on the Y board left side facing the back , A few tiny controls using a small philips with the TV on, good signal mark the controls position with a sharpy then while watching the picture turn slowly till the picture clears up finding a center postion with the least amount of spots and patches. If unable to adjust it you have either a bad Y board or bad panel (screen) .

Hitachi tv turns on then gets bad picture than turns off blue light blinking

The name of the part is probably "buffer board" and there are two in your TV - upper buffer and lower buffer, also called SDR-U and SDR-L boards.

Those are the two most common sources of problems in P50S601 along with the Y sustain board (SD board in hitachi and Panasonic terminology), which sometimes gets damaged by the failed buffer board.

In the buffer boards market there are all kinds of offerrings. There are old buffers for around $130 for the pair and there are new buffers in the range $160-$200 for the pair.

In my opinion if the difference is barely $30-$40 one is better off going for the brand new ones.

Here's a link to our title for them, you can sure find others if you start from it:

Hope this helps!

Tv turns on for a few seconds then shuts off and the blue power light blinks.

Mine never turned on but the blue power light would blink.I disconnected the upper y buffer and got light on the bottom half of screen and the blinking stopped.I have the upper board on order and I think this will fix my problem. There is a blink code somewhere, just count how many blinks.Start pulling connectors from power supply and when it quits blinking you've found the one, could also be the power supply with bad cap.

Hi my blue light is blinking but there's no display on the screen

do you get sound. I had the same problem. If you are technical take the back cover off and on the leftside there is 2 boards. They are called the buffer logic/scan board. If you take the lower one off and turn the tv on you should see half of the screen. If that doesn't work try the upper one and do the samething. Leave a rating after you they this. I will be here.

My screen is black and blue power light is blinking I am told by friends that it is the lightbulb. Where is it and how do I replace it?

no its not the light bulb. It could be your buffer logic / scan boards. That is the 2 boards that are located on the leftside of the back of the tv. If you take the lower one off and turn the tv on you might get half a picture and if you do then that board is bad but if not do the samething but put the lower board back and take off the upper board and try the samething. Please leave a rating after you try this.

Blue Light comes on but no picture

Hi, do you still have sound. Can you control your volume. It might be one of your sustainer boards. Please let me know. It could be your SDR boards too.

I get no picture. the blue power light blinks four times. i took it in to get serviced. repairmen said it was power supply and complete y board. but i found out he wasn't very honest.

Sounds like a on/off sensor like I had with my vizio. the light would blink several times and finally the picture just went blank and it would not turn on. a similar thing happened to a friends tv also and both times it was a on/off sensor, in this area it costs about 30 or so dollars to fix. probably higher in the city
