There is a series of electrical contacts on the back of the cartridge and a matching set in the carriage of the printer. Make sure they are not damaged and clean. My favorite way of cleaning them is with a cotton swap and Isopropyl Alcohol, then I rub them with a clean pencil eraser.

Are you using genuine Kodak ink? Sometimes third party ink does not have the proper chip in the cartridge and the printer rejects them.

Otherwise, if your machine is still under warranty, which it should as the Kodak printers haven't been on the market for much more than a year, I would contact Kodak about repairs or a replacement printer.

- I have just changed the black ink and now it wont print so I have changed the black ink again and it still wont print anything black - any ideas

The black ink nozzle in the print head might be blocked. Print a test page with a huge black image. Like: just start word, create a square through "illustrations" and fill it completely with black. Print it once or twice and see if finally the black ink may come out.

Through printer properties (windows control panel) there might be additional cleaning options.

Printer not printing black ink

Contact Kodak with your problem. The problem is in the print head. Kodak will send you a new print head free, then follow the instructions that are inclosed to change the print head. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE IT WITHOUT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS. You may damage the new head and they will not replace it a second time for free.
