Hi, I have a mission cop 2,000,000 and I lost the charger, can I use a 12v 500mA as a replacement? Note that the battery is a 6v

Hi Ebrahim
Defiantly not you cannot use a 12v supply on a 6v battery in the worse scenario you could blow up the battery by putting to much voltage into it, you will need to find a 6v charger hope this helps

Hello there

I think you will find the chargers for these trimotos are ' injusa 6 volt chargers'

Well it just so happens there is one for sale here, You may have to change the connector but its only two wires and low voltage.

How can i check a generator on a 67 shovel to see if it's charging properly?

Use a multimeter to measure battery voltage before and after starting. If 6V the battery voltage should rise to around 6.9V after starting, and if 12V the battery voltage should rise to around 13.8V after starting. If less than about 6.5V / 13V, the generator's not charging well enough. If less than about 6V / 12V, or if the battery voltage never rises at all, or frankly falls, after starting, then the generator's not charging at all.

1990 Dodge Ramcharger won't start. Battery output 12v, voltage across coil terminals 6v, voltage output at coil port to coil wire 6v, voltage of coil wire output to distributor 6v. Engine will c

There should be a small white ceramic block on the firewall - this component cuts the battery voltage from 12 to 9 volts for the coil and ignition system. It has 4 wires and is called a ballast resistor.
You may need a book with the wiring diagram to be able to test it. You should have battery voltage going in and something like 9 volts coming out.
You can also run a wire with a fuse from the battery to the positive side of the coil to check the system. Disconnect the factory wire from the coil first.

We have bought a battery charger HB 1206S DC6V - 12V 6AMP, but it does not state what is the state of charge do the lightes go out when it has reached changed state or light up please help

Product Detail Model No.: HB-1206S
The item is used for charging 6V-12V lead-acid batteries
Max Charging Current: 6A
AC Power Input: 64W
Output: 6/12V DC 3. 52A
Batteries Capacities: 15AHR-80AHR
Unit Packing: Colorful box
Dimension: 18cm x 10cm x 20cm
G. W. / N. W.: 1. 85KG/1. 75KG
Certifications: GS, CE, BS, ROHS, SAA

Main functions:
(1) The HB-1206S battery charger has the features of convenient operations, reliable safety and high performance.
(2) During charging, if turn up overload, the battery charger will keep itself at normal current and normal voltage with its self-automatic protecting function.
(3) If being short circuit, the battery charger will switch off itself, and turn normal after one or two minutes.
(4) The output current of the battery charger is very stationary, so it can protect the battery charger very well. It only costs 3 or 4 hours to fully charge the batteries.
(5) Indication of charging: the battery charger has 6 pilot lamps. The more pilot lamps shining, the less electric quantity is. The charging process finishes when all the pilot lamps go out.
(6) The battery charger can be switched between 6V and 12V, so it can charge for 6V and 12V accumulators. You can select 6V or 12V according to your own needs.
(7)The operations are very convenient: Put the red clip to the positive pole of the accumulator which indicated "+", and put the black clip to the negative pole of the accumulator which indicated "-", then plug in power source, the accumulator will be charged.

How to tell if battery is full charged before using it.

The easiest and best way to test any battery is with a volt-meter.

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_12496_12496

The link above is for a multi-meter. These are inexpensive and are an extremely useful tool to have. For about $15-20 you can buy a meter which will test AC/DV voltage, resistance/continuity and often diodes and/or transistors as well.

A fully-charged 12v battery will give a reading of 12v (or very close to 12v) on a volt-meter when it is fully-charged. 6v batteries should read 6v, 1.5v batteries should read 1.5v, etc, etc.

If the reading is lower than the power output of the battery, the battery is either not fully-charged or one or more cells may be damaged. If cells are damaged, you will never get the full 12v output from a 12v battery.

There are other ways to test batteries but they are less accurate. It's possible to use a battery charger, but you can only use this to determine whether a battery is fully-charged if the battery is known to be good. A fully-charged battery should draw 0 amps on a battery charger, but a damaged battery may also draw 0 amps so this is not a good test.

Basically, I'd suggest you get yourself a multi-meter. You be glad you did!

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric.

Could it jump start a 6 volt battery car?

It is not a good idea to connect 12v to a 6v system. It can short out the ignition system, generator, and any electronics that are energized. It is best to use a 6v charger.

I have a 3010 John Deere +24 volt pos ground how do I change from 24 volt gererator to a 24 volt altenator

The 3010 24v JD system is not a true 24v system. It is a balanced split 12v system, with one positive ground battery and one negative ground battery. The only 24 volt accessory is the starter, where the batteries meet in a series to provide 24 volts for starting. All other accessories are 12v, half powered by the positive ground battery and half powered by the negative battery. The generator charges one battery in one direction and the other battery in the reverse direction. Therefore a 24v alternator is not easily adapted to this system.
The usual solution is to change to a 12v system with an alternator, changing the starter to 12v and changing the polarity of the positive ground battery to negative ground.
The cost of a 12v starter and alternator is far less than the cost of a 24v alternator, plus the added benefit of using 12v lights and other accessories.
JD switched to this 12v type of system with alternator during the 20 series production, but used two 6v batteries in a series due to the larger cranking amp rating of the 6v batteries occupying the same physical space.
