R2D2 has plastic drive gears inside - finding replacement gears will prove to be a major challenge, let alone trying to INSTALL those gears. Your only hope is if it is still under warranty and you have all the original packaging, warranty card and receipt. They pretty much bank on you throwing all of these items away, blocking the return. I suggest contacting the store or outlet you purchased him from for return information, as it should have a 1 year warranty on it.

You can also try contacting the manufacturer for warranty info - maybe they'll send you the replacement gears in the mail, as they could be shipped in an envelope.
Good luck!!

Just started making "clicking" sounds with a deep

Mine did this also. A regular popping on and off of the Noise Canceling feature, making it impossible to hear music/sound. If while this is happening your green battery indicator light is flashing on and off with the rhythmic popping on/off of the NC, try replacing your AAA battery with a new, fresh battery. I did, and all was well again. I had to do this twice since the first replacement battery came out of the TV clicker and were too warn to fix the problem (ran out of AAAs, it was raining, and late at night, know the Emergency battery replacement drill - run around the house shamelessly cannibalizing the kid's toys, Grandpa's insulin pump, the wife's ********...whatever you can find). Anyway, the next day I sprung for a new set of Energizers and all was well with the world again. Hope this helps.

R2d2 robot has a voice but is not moving. Any handy fixes you can recommend? Could it be a low battery? Carolyn

With your R2D2 make sure his red button is not engaged as this stops him from moving. Be patient with this toy and read the instructions carefully he is an amazing robot to own and play with and will suprise you as he did with our family.

1988model starter does not engage more often than it does engage

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} What is the difference in the sound when it engages and when it does not?
What does engage mean to you.
To me it means a loud click sound followed by the engine cranking.
Actually engage is just the click sound.
Cranking is the small electric starting motor forcing the engine to move as if it were actually running. Once it moves just a bit a spark plugs fire and the resulting explosions makes the engine keep going until one of the following happens.
Loss of air/fuel mixture (i.e. run out of gas or air intake blocked)
Loss of spark (i.e. battery low or dead, bad coil, bad plugs)
The two above do not come together at correct time (timing)
Something physically stops the engine from continuing to operate (engine seizes, too much load)

If battery is low starter will not engage or crank.
If electrical connections are bad (usually loose or dirty) current will not flow properly and starter will not engage or crank.
Both can be checked with a multi meter.
Measure battery voltage when attempting to start.
It should be 12-13.2 volts and should not drop below around 10 volts
If it is not dropping but still not engaging/cranking, continue to take voltage readings move from battery toward the starter. When you find a sudden voltage drop, investigate wiring just before that point upstream toward the battery.

My 55-200 automatic lens will not auto focus on the lower focal lengths, but will on the longer ones. It hasn't been dropped or mishandled and the standard lens works fine. Nikon D40

From the sounds of things it sounds like a part is worn in the lense, my advise is to contact Nikon and send away to be repaired, they have a great service department. I have used them and they are quite inexpensive to.

Peg Perego John Deere Gator not working at all

It sounds like you need a pedal switch or it has a loose connection in the wires. It is a specific Peg Perego Switch that will fit under the foot pedal. I have a gator that was doing the same thing so i replaced the shifter switches and the foot pedal switch, but I bet you could start with just the foot pedal switch.
I bought mine at this website but you could also call them as well.
Hope this helps
