That's not good! Either the switch itself is faulty, or you may have enough sawdust wedged into the switch housing that the switch doesn't have the room to click off. It's wedged to the on position. Either way, the housing needs to be disassembled to find out.

Dewalt Model D304-04 reciprocating saw wont run. I plug it in, pull the trigger and it wont start. What am I doing wrong or what could the cause be?

Hi Fred:
Hmmmmm.
- Confirm there is power in the plug.
- use continuity meter to check that there is a complete circuit through the saw.
- broken connection in plug?
- broken wire between plug and switch?
- switch not functioning?
- switch set between forward and reverse?
- Speed control potentiometer contacts dirty?
- Bad brushes?

How do i turn on a ryobi band saw

First check that it's plugged into a good outlet. Either try another electrical item in that outlet or try the band saw in an outlet you know to be good. Next step; the power switch on the riser has to have a yellow switch key (Ryobi part number 0121010232) in it to work properly. Without the key the switch will not activate the motor. If that's all OK, you should use a volt meter to first check that power is getting to the switch through the cord, then through the cord to the motor. If that's all in order you may have a problem with the motor that can only be tested by a service center with the proper equipment to check the capacitor and armature conductance.

When the locked switch is turned on (and the saw is plugged in and the breaker is good), the saw will not run. Also no power to the light. It stopped while I was cutting and now will not run?? help?

Hi,
I am looking at the Manual now, here are the solutions they suggest.
-Shorted capacitor-have capacitor tested
-Starting switch not operating-have switch replaced
-Loose or broken connections-have wiring checked and repaired
-Burned switch contacts(due to extended hold in periods caused by low line voltage) Have switch replaced and request a voltage check from the power company (thats word for word from the manual)

I hope this helps

How to reset a 740 power shop radial arm saw. Saw stopped during a cut. Breaker is good. Power source is good. Can find the reset button.

Hi Welby:
My saw is not a DeWalt, but the procedure should be similar.
First, WORK SAFE! UNPLUG THE SAW.
Now you can explore without the prospect of having it bite you.
Here are the things I would do:
1) Set the On/Off switch to OFF
2) Have a look at the motor. There should be RED (typical) reset button. When you find it give it a good solid push.
3) Check to make sure the On/Off switch is still OFF.
4) Plug in the saw.
5) Try turning it on.
If it does not work, I would unplug it and use a continuity meter to start checking the various components, especially the On/Off switch. If it has failed and you can't get a replacement you could
do as I have with an old Craftsman. It is 110 or 220, and has only been used on 110. Half of the switch terminals had arced over 40 years of use, so I just re-wired the switch to use the other terminals but still be 110. .

Does not turn on. The wood was at an angle and jammed when it quit working

Hello. I recommend that you check your circuit breaker or fuse which is in the house panel and feeds the outlet that your saw is plugged into.
I believe that you will find that you solution is to reset the breaker or change the fuse.

Our Powermatic PM66 will not start... the motor will run if the contacts are manually engaged but the contacts will not pull in using the start switch

If the motor runs without the switch then the problem is the switch. Pull out and blow it clean of sawdust and try again. Also check the connections at the switch to make sure they are tight.Hook a meter up and turn the switch on to check for continuity. Remember, switches wear out also and need to be replaced.

Saw runs continuously

The on off switch has a contact that has probably fused together from making and breaking causing an arc. You may try giving it a good 'wrap' with the back of a screw driver to free it, or replace the switch.

Delta Table Saw stopped running

I have a table saw that the cord from the motor plugs into the the back of the on/off switch. I yours is configured like that, unplug the motor cord from the back of the switch and plug it in to the wall and see if the motor will run. If so replace the switch.
